Want to start a business? Need some help from an investor, mentor, advisor, or spouse? Put together a business proposal to help them see the vision. They need to know the Who, what where, why and how of your proposed business.
Business proposals don't need to answer every question and they certainly don't need the detail of a business plan, but they do need to focus on a few key areas of the business that all investors, partners, and stakeholders will want to hear about.
I have the opportunity of reviewing many business proposals for both personal investments, and from customers wanting to create their dream businesses. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to do a proposal and this episode gives you actionable information you need to create a strong business proposal!
The best businesses sell before they buy. They successfully create revenue, before expensing the buy. This is not only Kickstarter businesses, but true of companies like Tesla, Ford, Nike, and many many more. In the process of creating the revenue before purchasing inventory the businesses optimize cash flow and reduce risk. Today, small, medium, and large businesses are doing the same.

We sometime step over a dollar to pick up a quarter don't we. Why do we do that and how do we prevent it? This podcast is about recognizing the consequences of taking on the wrong opportunities and neglecting the right decisions when it comes to distribution, sales, marketing and supply chain.
You don't need to take every customer and do every part of supply chain to be successful. Focus on what gets you closer to your short and long term goals. It's OK to pass or put on hold.
The last thing we want is something to take you away from profit generating activities.
"Most people overestimate what you can do in a year and underestimate what you can do in a lifetime." Tony Robbins
That statement always stuck out to me and resonated with what I know to be true for product development and building sustainable supply chains.
In this episode we cover the common misuse of time in management of product businesses. Having hard deadlines to develop products. Setting unrealistic expectations, trying to ship quickly, etc.
May entrepreneurs and businesses leave money on the table because they try to go too fast. Don't do that. Start earlier, and plan for success.
Labor day...I mean Labor Week is happening right now in China. Labor Day (劳动节 – láo dòng jié) is almost a full week with mostly radio silence from factories, vendors, etc. The manufacturing and logistics are already slow and the supply lines stretched thin. What do you do to stay ahead of the game and use this holiday to your advantage?
I have wasted away too many labor days in China and at home waiting for responses. Those days are no more. This podcast covers a few strategies you can employ to be most productive and use the holiday to your benefit.

Are your customers buying for the same reason you are selling to them? Are they buying your product because it does what you thought it would, or because they are seeing an alternate benefit to it?
We often times, as entrepreneurs or business managers rely too much on our own assumptions to look to better understand our customer and their relationship with our product.
Ultimately the market will do what it does and decide if your product is what they want it to be and use it the way they see fit. You as the product manager need to ensure that you are meeting the needs and finding the demand for your product wherever it may be.
This episode goes great with this Mark Mabry Episode
Are you having Supplychain nightmares? We all are, especially if you didn't take the time to find a plan B. Small businesses are being hit the hardest. Without the volume to really justify building and wholly independent supply line they are forced to resort to burdensome and cash heavy capital investments to buy heavy and stay ahead of the game.
Medium and large companies play a smarter game and invest that hard earned capital into multisource, multiregion supply chains that account for as much foreseeable risk as they can.
They try to think of more than just price gouging and poor performance. They look at geopolitical risk, weather, and economic forecasts to identify where to save and where to invest.
This episode of the Product Guy podcast will tell you what to look for and what to avoid. Things to consider and things ignore.
This episode goes great with episode 36 - Why the shortages? Which covers the COVID Era supply chain risks and how companies can address this.

What does it actually take to launch a custom product? What are the steps taken by all major companies and brands to ensure a successful launch and source with confidence from reliable suppliers and manufacturers.
This was recorded during a special invite only training for entrepreneurs and CEO's of companies creating physical products. I took so many notes and learned so much I couldn't help myself, but share this.
Grab some pen and paper and get ready to learn from the best
Yesterday a Jpg sold for 8,000 Ethereum or 24,000,000 USD. It was a CryptoPunk and someone spent an obscene amount of money to secure a certain piece of digital art. History was made.
NFT's are the future of the digital economy and the building of that economy is happening RIGHT now. We are literally seeing it develop before our eyes and it's fascinating. NO one could have guessed 5 years ago that these JPG's would be worth as much as the are and the real question is why?
In this episode we cover what the relationship between Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, and NFT's with physical products. The utility, the smart contract, behind the NFT's is really what gives great power to smart contracts. I predict that in the future vehicles will be sold with an accompanying NFT and having access to it means you will be able to start and drive your vehicle. Without it you will be walking.
I predict more and more digital creators and brands will be creating NFT's as a way to give access to the latest and greatest items to their most loyal customers. They will also be using it as a way to reward their customers.
The digital world of NFT's doesn't take away from physical goods, but create new markets, brands, and communities of buyers.
Sales Fix Everything!
Sales are the lifeblood of your business. They keep cash coming in and ultimately keep the doors open. Once you know your customer avatar and understand them, the next step is to send them your message. Those that have their own audience can do that from the podium which best suites them, but the wisest leverage the audiences of others as well as their own.
This episode discusses why we need creators, how they can help, and what we need to do to make the exchange mutually beneficial and profitable. It would be unwise to ignore their ability to promote and create sales, but to do so tactfully and resourcefully is important.

The photography business has always fascinated me. It's a real struggle to scale and grow when you are primarily selling a service linked to time. "You will never become rich if your main source of income is selling your time."
Mark Mabry is an award winning artist and photographer who found success in a photography business, but eventually learned to sell physical products, licensed prints, that took his business to the next level. Outsourcing high grade prints comes with all sorts of problems, including print grade, packaging, logistics, etc. Mark tells us how he overcame these things and what he did to make his photo's not only desirable but more accessible to consumers.
This is a must listen for all those in the service sector looking to identify a scale without selling more TIME. Time is the MOST finite of resources in each of our lives and businesses. Identifying strategies to be the most productive with it is the key to success.

China is still Manufacturing King! The Great Chinese exodus is still in full effect, but the highest capacity and combined technical capability for all manufacturing is still located in the Peoples Republic of China!
This doesn't mean there aren't quality manufacturer's outside the PRC, it just means as a collective the highest rate of success in manufacturing is in China. Recent geopolitical conditions have further strained relations with China, but if you want to make a good and don't know where to go, there is likely a scalable, affordable, and readily available solution in the PRC.
This episode talks about why. Why is this the case and why is China set up so well to manufacture. This is a replay of a previous episode posted in 2020, but the principles are still true and explain why companies and corporations work in China and why they are trying to diversify out of China.
Definitely worth a listen!
Have you noticed many of your store shelves are empty? From Chicken, to Frozen products, to fewer toys on the shelves for Christmas, every store or retailer is feeling the pinche right now. They just can't keep the shelves fully stocked of all the goods they want to sell.
Stories of people receiving their sectional 6 - 8 months after ordering to not having enough rapid tests to deal with the Omicron surge is really frustrating a lot of consumers and retailers.
Most shortages are caused by 3 reasons Logistics, Manufacturing Concerns, and Changing in Buying habits. Ultimately things will ease and supply with level as supply lines are retooled, but until then we will need to be patient as the shortages continue.

Tiny Homes have become an obsession for many around the world. Especially those looking to have a more simple life without the obligations of a large home. Small homes don't mean less complexity, in fact it's the opposite. The smaller the home the more difficult and the more complex the engineering and precise the build must be.
Our Guest Brian Hawkins talks us through the Tiny House industry and social media marketing. Brian is the man behind the Instagram @TinyHouseMovement, which boasts over 611K followers, and owner of HNH Media. Brian has built, marketed and sold hundreds of tiny homes. He has since built a media company helping business grow their business through UGC and work with digital creators.
