There is a phrase that Jay Fesperman, one of the founders of Christian Training Center International, would always say - “Life is Relationships.” To build healthy relationships with family and friends, one must first build a right relationship with God the Father. Through this podcast, we desire to inspire personal change and provide biblical and practical resources through real life stories.
We get to experience a deep level of discipleship with young adults here at The Inn during the summer. One truth we address time and time again is that our behaviors are a reflection of our beliefs. We challenge young people to recognize the lies, fears and false identities that inform their behaviors so they can take those thoughts captive. In this episode, Seth & Alicia Williams discuss some of the common “root issues” young people are facing today.

What does it mean to be a man in today’s culture? In this episode, we’re talking with Seth Williams about the attack on manhood, not just in mainstream society, but also in the church. Men are being turned off from the faith because we have removed any sense of adventure and perpetuated the view that Christianity is for pacifists. However, if we look at the example of King David, we see a dichotomy of manhood that is strength and emotion; action and art; ferocity and peace. Listen as we explore what it means for men to be fully alive in their God-given design.

It is important that we as Christians are well versed on the different viewpoints and cultural understandings of the scriptures we apply to our daily life.

It is nearly impossible to live life without the use of our cell phones. They are our watches, computers, cameras, GPS, and so much more. With 24/7 access to the world at our fingertips, it takes all the more discipline to create healthy boundaries with social media, and our connectivity to others in general. Remember when you and your spouse first got married? The butterflies, goals, and dreams you had for the life you would build together? It was exhilarating! And then life happened: jobs, kids, and getting caught up in the day-to-day grind. Those dreams slipped away and everything revolves around managing your lives.
In this episode, Larry & Susan share how important it is to continue dreaming together and how to find that spark to take you out of the normal routine of schedules and shopping lists that brings you closer together.
We all have had the honeymoon stage of a new relationship, but what happens when that ends? We can find ourselves walking through the day to day and feeling like the relationship with our spouse can become an obligation or duty. Susan shares about how to navigate the danger of indifference, how intimacy really is more than just sex, and what it looks like to pursue genuine connection with your spouse.
We know that life is messy. Constantly trying to get on the same page with our spouses can often feel frustrating and like a chore. So is it actually worth it? Healthy communication is key to making decisions in the midst of life's messiness and some may be surprised at what the most powerful word in marriage actually is!
To shed some light on this topic, Larry will be sharing valuable lessons on a principle found in Matthew 18:19-20 that teaches us how to handle disagreement and what it looks like to continually become one in our marriages while navigating everything that life throws at us.

From leaving their North Carolina home to Spokan, WA, moving back to Raleigh, to joining CTCI staff as the Executive Directors, the Williams describe their ministry history, how they came to be at the Inn, and share valuable lessons on following the Lord not by sight, but by faith.
We provide an environment of discipleship here at CTCI that is rich, fun, and developed in a real-life setting of living a practical walk with the Lord. Examples like Timothy and Paul give us a deeper insight into the raw Biblical concept of discipleship and what it means to have others imitate us as we imitate Christ. In today’s podcast, Casey Wilson explores this Biblical concept and how it has played a huge role in the way we train the young men and women who have come through the Inn, both staff and program.
God as a Father created the universe in love, yet much of the insecurity that we are experiencing in young people today is a byproduct of frustration, anger, and purposelessness that comes from the lack of fatherhood in our culture today. Join Larry Pons as he discusses the importance of Fatherhood not only for the parental family structure but the Heavenly structure we all must walk in as children of God.
From the 1970’s to now, Christian Training Center International has changed names, leadership, and programs but the heart of the ministry has remained the same - fatherhood and family. Join us today on this podcast as ministry directors, Larry Pons and Seth Williams, break down the history of CTCI, how it’s discipleship programs have evolved throughout the decades, and how the foundational legacy of fatherhood will continue to be taught into the twenty first century.
