When Ian Anderson decided to record the lead card of pro's at a local tournament in 2011, he didn't know where to stand for best video. Today, his media company, Central Coast Disc Golf, makes some of the most recognized videos and Ian is one of the best commentators for live disc golf. His growth and passion are a great study in what to do when growing a media company in disc golf. And he's done all of it while working full time for Jack in the Box, a husband and a father. Central Coast Disc Golf is a great glimpse in the work it takes to go big.

When Ren Caldwell graduated from Carleton College in 1998, she had no idea what direction her life would go. A leap of faith led her to Seattle and a career change to personal training led her to becoming one of the first strength and conditioning coaches to develop curriculum specific for the needs of ultimate players. And that led her to create a gym space that strives for radical inclusion -- where everyone can feel safe working out no matter their body type or appearance. She and her team of amazing coaches have found success despite several setbacks and even continued to help countless patrons during the peak of the pandemic when in-person gyms suffered the most. Ren has become an icon within the ultimate community, all through following her intuition.

In 2011, when Sara Nicholson ran her first women's only tournament, it inspired her to run events that got more women playing disc golf. Combined with an internal drive to help health causes and many conversations with the co-founder of Innova, Sara founded Throw Pink in 2013, now a nationally recognized non-profit hosting fundraising events across the US and internationally. But the path to becoming big enough to title sponsor of the 2021 Women's Disc Golf Championship wasn't a straight one.

In this episode, Kate talks with one of the founders and eventual sole-owner of Upper Park Designs about the years of work it took to maintain the brand, a journey that led to him selling his business in 2020.
