Bea Chan is the co-founder of Sisters in Psychedelics (SIP)- a platform that empowers people to elevate the divine feminine and other underrepresented voices in the evolution of the psychedelic ecosystem. SIP offers in-person and virtual events for female-identifying people, like sharing circles for BIPOCA folks, moms and psychedelic professionals, workshops, integration circles and more. In this episode, Bea breaks down her spiritual journey of traveling abroad and partaking in psychedelic ceremonies ultimately leading her to begin her work with SIP. Bea is, also, the host of the Liberated Leader podcast and is gearing up to host the first-ever Women in Psychedelic Conference in Vancouver, Canada in September 2022.
In this interview, I sat down with Dr. Darron Smith of the University of Memphis. Darron T. Smith is a faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the University of Memphis. His areas of research and scholarship examine US-based systems of racial oppression and systemic inequality. Dr. Smith’s current research and practice intertwine the study of applied neuroscience, race-based trauma, and mental illness in studying MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. He has worked on the research publication entitled “The Need for Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy in the Black Community and the Burdens of Its Provision”.
