Dr. Vaidya’s success is a compelling story about a 150-year-old Ayurveda clinic that scaled to a valuation of almost 150 crores.

The brand’s story picks up again when Arjun Vaidya left a promising career in the US to come back to India and follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. He launched Dr. Vaidya’s as a new-age Ayurveda company in 2016 and was joined by Trisha Rajani, his co-founder and now wife, a few years later. Together, they scaled the brand into an international wellness behemoth.

Last year, after tripling their valuation to Rs. 144 Crores during the pandemic, they were acquired by RPSG Ventures Ltd.

In our latest episode, we talk to the founders of Dr. Vaidya's about the challenges they faced in taking a legacy brand online, scaling from a team of 2 to a team of over 150, making ayurveda cool, balancing work and marriage, and finally getting acquired - where they had to let go of their “baby”.

Arjun Vaidya and Trisha Rajani Vaidya are the founders of Dr. Vaidya’s, a new-age Ayurveda brand that was acquired in 2021. Arjun Vaidya completed his bachelor’s at Brown University and is currently serving as Ventures Lead - India at Verlinvest, a consumer sector-focused investment firm. Trisha Rajani is a graduate of the University of Warwick and is working as an advisor at GlobalBees and Rukam Capital Mentor. Together, they have invested in over 70 brands in India.

The word 'Branding' started with searing one's name on cattle to show ownership.

To draw a gory analogy, the meaning has stayed similar over the ages.

How do you sear your brand's name in your customers' minds (albeit a lot more gently)? How do you make sure that, when someone's ready to buy, your product is the first thing they think about?

In this episode, we talk to Puja Arti, brand manager at Absolute Foods, about her highly successful yet somewhat offbeat MBA career track. From her entrepreneurial background, her journey at Masters' Union, to Absolute Foods - her current Agritech startup, where she's using empathy to build a brand that aspires to feed our future generations. We discuss the day-to-day life of a brand manager, the most exciting aspect (and one thing she doesn’t like), the brands that inspire her, and what you need to become a brand manager.

Puja Arti is the Brand Manager at Absolute Foods. She is a Law graduate and completed her PGP in Technology & Business Management from Masters’ Union in 2021. She co-founded Build-Inn in 2015 to solve the problem of finding home builders and turnkey solutions for homemakers. At Absolute Foods, she drives brand strategies as part of the New Initiatives team that hopes to change the landscape of agriculture.
