The letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 are key to understanding the entire book. Unfortunately many prophecy teachers skip right over them, while many preachers ONLY talk about them. Kelsan and Taylor finish up the book of Amos, discussing verses 11-15 of chapter 9. Part of this passage is quoted in the book of Acts, and while there are some elements which have already been fulfilled, there are others that are not yet complete. In addition we zoom out and ask the question, "Why did the Holy Spirit put Amos in our Bibles?"
Are the "gods" of the nations just fantasies? Or is there more to the supernatural background of the Bible? What are the origins of the dark gods, and how do they influence our world today?
In a perversion of justice, the prophet Amos is brought before King Jeroboam. Rather than backing down, Amos boldly proclaims God's word.
In the final vision in the book of Amos, the prophet sees the Lord standing beside the altar. Because of rebellion destruction is coming.
Amos 5 is an example of a Hebrew Qinah, or lament poem. It is a funeral song sung over a fallen nation. Kelsan and Taylor discuss the impact of sin on a culture and how God's word draws us to repentance.
Amos 5 is a crescendo of prophetic pronouncement, as Israel's decadence and counterfeit religiosity leads them down a road of judgement. Kelsan and Taylor look at the significant theological connections between this chapter and other Biblical literature.
