There is a small town at the border of Pennsylvania and Ohio named Midland, PA. It is a town much like other formerly great towns which thrived due to the steel industry, and felt the sharp sting of joblessness as that same industry died. It is a town afflicted with poverty, broken homes, and dreams of better days. Yet, it is not a town of hopelessness.

Seth Whitted sits down with Dr. Cheryl King, Tina Price-Genes, Susan Smith & Shon Owens to discuss the resources that the Franklin center offers Low-income residents of the beaver county community.
Literacy Pittsburgh offers free educational programs for adults and families in Allegheny County and Beaver County. Each year, we help nearly 5,000 people in the Greater Pittsburgh area improve their reading, writing, math, English language, digital literacy, and workplace skills. Adult literacy classes and tutoring move students from learning to earning and help them succeed as workers, parents, and neighbors.
