UNCUT on the Hill is a student led and athlete driven digital journalism platform. Our goal is for student-athletes at Denison to have a space to share their stories about mental health, gender, race, injuries, other passions, future career paths and anything in between! DIG is the Diversity and Inclusion Group on campus. It was formed to allow athletes of all identities to feel welcome. With this podcast, we want to blend the two organizations and “DIG” deep into each respective athlete’s story in its truest form. Podcasts enable easy and accessible listening for a wide range of listeners, and that is our goal: to make sure our message reaches that one person who needs to hear it most.
After a hiatus in releasing content for UNCUT, we would like to start this academic year with an episode about Caliyah Bennett, a junior track and field athlete at Denison. She shares stories about her experiences with racism and how she overcomes negative thoughts before a race.
In the first episode of Season 2, hosts Jack Nimesheim and Ana Linda Ortiz de Rosa interview freshman Akindele Aboyade-Cole about his experience as a Nigerian American raised in a predominantly white town.
In the final episode of Season 1, Isa Contreras and Freeman Brou bid farewell to UNCUT on the Hill and introduce the new hosts of DIG Deep Season 2. Please welcome Ana Linda Ortiz and Jack Nimesheim.
