A simple way to start changing to a growth mindset is using a little word, yet. In essence, the word means a realization that some things are worth waiting for, and those things take work. It's not always easy, but the power of this small word allows for success. Yet implies that something is achievable. Yet puts a person back in charge of their destiny. A great way to integrate the power of yet into all that you do is to identify where you're using the word 'can't'. All you need to do is add the word 'yet' on the end and you're there. I can't ride a bike… yet. "Wisdom with Charlie Perkins" is available on Apple Podcast, Amazon Music, Amazon Alexa, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Google Podcast, and all major platforms.

If you're not speaking the same language as your partner, then you could be missing the mark completely and not even know it. What's your love language? What's your partner's love language? What differentiates an average manager from a great leader? The answer often encompasses soft skills – such as active listening – which facilitate a leader’s ability to connect with their staff. It acknowledges that you value their most important asset – time, and you truly care for their thoughts.
Even though listening – thoughtfully listening – to someone you don’t agree with is tough – it is not only a sign of respect- but also shows a willingness to listen to other points of view. We grow in the process.
