Welcome to our second full campaign, "Borrowed Light," playing Hard Wired Island by Paul Matijevic, Freyja Erlingsdottir, and Minverva McJanda!

This is our session zero -- basically a planning session we've recorded and put in the feed as part demonstration, part explanation, part preparation, and part revelation (by which I mean, it's kind of a type of Dice Peeks in feel, which is why it doesn't have its own Peeks in the Patreon feed).

We hope this episode is entertaining, informative, and useful going forward into the campaign, and we hope you enjoy the official start of Borrowed Light in episode 2.1 - People of GPol, posting shortly!

As the poet once said... "Stars" by Hum.

"Lithium Twilight" and "Sprezzatura" are by neon shudder.

Welcome to the after-show, patrons and other listeners alike! Since we're releasing one-shots to tide you over while we rebuild our buffer of Hard Wired Island episodes, and our Patreon is currently paused, we're putting the Peeks for Exiles here and on our Patreon's public feed -- we hope you enjoy this look at what could be yours twice a month if you support us with real, actual dollars!

This one-shot in Ben Klug's moody, contemplative game of item descriptions, Exiles, is a somber, silent, GM-less journey into the bleak world and fractured history of four wanderers in darkened lands...

This month's in-between one-shot is a different kind of thing than we've done so far, a lot quieter, in both literal and figurative senses. We hope you enjoy it; it was very rewarding to record!

The intended experience of these in-between one-shots in March and April 2024 is to be a little woolier, so we hope you still enjoy them -- and look in the main feed for the Dice Peeks after-show, since these are being released while our Patreon is temporarily paused!

We are still bringing you our Hard Wired Island campaign, Borrowed Light -- and in fact, this episode is ever so slightly late going up due to recording toward our buffer for that campaign!

As the poet once said... "The Arsonist" by Thrice.

This one-shot in Erika Chappell's short, bloody, hilarious SALVATION: Blessed are the Ultraviolent will probably stand for some time as our most indulgently excessive one-shot! In this episode, our Nobilis pursue the end of gods, and whatever may come next...

Scheduling Note: This episode is the final part of a marathon, nearly-12-hour recording session we Punks did to give Nightfall the send-off it deserves. The first part was posted on 1 September 2023, and this true, for-real-this-time last episode of Nightfall is going live between regularly scheduled updates, as soon as life allowed us to finish the editing on it -- thanks for your patience!

We’ll also be putting these finale episodes’ combined Dice Peeks after-show in the main feed, for all to enjoy!

After that, for 15 September, we’ll be posting a retrospective episode covering the whole campaign. 1 & 15 October will be our… triumphant? …return to Extreme Meatpunks Forever (GMed once more by the inimitable Drew!), and we’ll have something special for you on HALLOWEEN! Finally, Des’s Unknown Armies miniseries will begin airing on November 15th, and our next full campaign, Hard Wired Island, will begin after that.

In this episode, our Nobilis make a great start of the daunting task of ending the war between the gods, one way or another...

Scheduling Note: This episode is the first part of a marathon, nearly-12-hour recording session we Punks did to give Nightfall the send-off it deserves. During that, we identified a few good potential stopping points where the episode could be split up if needed, since editing 12ish hours of four people’s audio is a task it’s hard to predict the duration of.

And it’s good we did, because despite planning ahead, life has prevented Joanne and Adam from getting the whole thing ready for airtime by the day this goes live, September 1st! That said, we want to avoid making our wonderful listeners wait a whole half a month to hear the rest if we're at all able, so here’s the plan:

This first part is for you to enjoy right this instant, the next part will go up as soon as it’s ready, and we’ll be putting these finale episodes’ combined Dice Peeks after-show in the main feed, for all to enjoy! After that, for September 15th, we’ll be posting a retrospective episode covering the whole campaign. October 1st and 15th will be our… triumphant? …return to Extreme Meatpunks Forever (GMed once more by the inimitable Drew!), and we’ll have something special for you on HALLOWEEN! Finally, Des’s Unknown Armies miniseries will begin airing on November 15th, and our next full campaign, Hard Wired Island, will begin after that.

Surprise! There's a TTRPG by Heather Flowers and Aura Belle set in the Extreme Meatpunks Forever universe and we here at Dice Punks were favored with an advance copy of the rulebook! We were so excited, we decided to surprise everyone with a one-shot GMed by Drew, and it was a blast – we hope you enjoy it!

Content warnings are given by Drew at the beginning, but include: body horror, dysmorphia, dismemberment, political violence, and gore. As he notes, we're not being edgelords, that's just the stuff you can expect when meatpunks and fash clash!

  • As the poet said... "Whoever Brings the Night," by Nightwish
  • Inspiration for the challenge this time came from folklore and Shadowrun!

We are very excited to bring you our very first full campaign, Nightfall! Using a combined system of REIGN and Nobilis, and set in our very own brand-new mythic fantasy setting of Mieleth, Nightfall focuses on a couple of unfortunates in the region of Taraxis who find themselves suddenly elevated to demigod status.

  • Number of times 666 has been rolled: 2
  • As the poet said... "Enter Sandman," by Metallica
  • The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a lovely "new-time podcast in the style of old-time radio." It's been basically concluded for a while now, though, so it doesn't appear that the behind-the-scenes episode I was referring to is readily available, though. Alas!
  • Kaya gives Dusa vibes (or, given her preferred address of Lyssa, these vibes, perhaps?)

Their sole remaining trustworthy adult having fallen, can the troubled teens of the St. Daniel Academy make it through the worst school-day ever in one piece?

  • Ness from the SNES game EarthBound (Mother 2 in Japan) uses a skill called "PK Fire" in the Super Smash Bros. franchise. (It sounds like this.)
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender is fantastic, and if you haven't seen it, you should watch it, but for our purposes, one of the four types of elemental magic/martial arts in the setting is firebending.

At a small, unusual school in rural America, several students have recently become aware that they have... unusual abilities -- and they're about to have a pretty terrible day.

  • "War Eagle!" is a greeting-slash-cheer used by Auburn University in Alabama, despite the fact that their mascot is officially the Tigers.
  • Hüsker Dü is the name of both a board game and a hardcore punk band.
  • The Mediterranean civilizations of the late Bronze Age experienced a collective, catastrophic collapse, seemingly due to a variety of factors.
  • The idea of an OODA Loop was military in origin, but is applied in response strategies that many teachers in United States schools are trained in, in the event of an active shooter on campus. (In the session, Robin has Nic refer to the student handbook for response strategies that are, in the GM's experience, more rational and effective than much of what teachers in the real world are trained in.)
