Matthew Granahan, AKA, the King of Connecticut, is by far one of the most fascinating people to have ever come on the show. His talents and connections into the worlds of mixed martial art and pro wrestling are unbelievable; but host Bob Carson has been following Granahan since 2016 and his resume speaks for itself. Friday May 29th, 2020, the King of Connecticut joins Carson's Corner for an all inclusive interview you won't want to miss. Below is just a glimpse of Granahan's resume.
Wrestling competitively since age 12 he held the consecutive pinning record in the Connecticut FCIAC conference for 3 straight years and in 1993 he won the prestigious Nutmeg Open Freestyle championship. Matt has worn every hat in mma as competitor, coach, cornerman, referee and Broadcaster. Heralded and sought after for his intricate knowledge of the sport and energy on the mic, Granahan has hosted events alongside UFC Hall of Famers Dan Severn, Stephan Bonnar and Frankie Edgar as well as Bellator headliner King Mo. In February of 2017 he was inducted into the FL MMA Hall of Fame at RFC 39 in Tampa for his contributions as a veteran competitor and Broadcaster in the Sunshine State.
In 2009 Matt wrote the definitive history book on mma up to that point with World Shooto Champion Erik Paulson. The book Rough and Tumble has become a cult classic and favorite among hard-core fans with copies still selling today. Matt also manages UFC Hall of Famers Dan Severn and Stephan Bonnar and UFC and WEC veteran Kamal Shalorus. In 2012 Granahan was hired on as Prime Marketing consultant for Spike TV and Bellator MMA . Matt's show King's Court features several of his mma legend friends and they recount stories with lots of comedy thrown in. 1.Chris Hedges wrote an interesting article for Truthdig titled "The Silencing of Dissent." In the article, Hedges writes that it is critical for the corporate elite to silence dissent in order to maintain the status quo. He argues that the ideas of the corporate elite are not accepted by the masses so they must use "coercion, intimidation and cencorship". Hedges further states, "The elites face an unpleasant choice. They could impose harsh controls to protect the status quo or veer leftward toward socialism to ameliorate the mounting economic and political injustices endured by most of the population." We'll discuss the implications of this and more.
2.Dynastic Wealth in America. Writing for Truthdig, Robert Reich, who is by no means a radical, writes about how meaningless the estate tax is in the taxation of generational wealth. With the Trump Administration now trying for "tax reform", this is an issue that the working class must confront. Workers must accept the idea that the tax code is written for and by the wealthy.
- Senator Bernie Sanders introduced his health care bill. The folks over at the Greanville Post feel, this effort by Sanders is a way to provide cover for the Democrats who are going to work with the Trump administration on health care and tax cuts.

Yesterday on Carson’s Corner, I had an amazing interview with Trevor Wittman. Our main topic of focus was combat sports equipment, which doesn’t get a lot of attention in the world of MMA. After refoaming mitts 10 years ago because they were unsafe, Trevor has since started creating mitts with his company ONX Sports with the goal of rethinking processes to make athletes safe in a sport where every movement is crucial.
“When you think of mitts”, Trevor says, “there is no left or right.” Fighters have to strike at a target that is not designed to meet the mechanics of their body. This one size fits all design has made it unsafe for fighters, Wittman believes.
On the subject of gloves, Wittman is offering a dynamic approach. Wittmann confirmed that fighters are wearing multiple pairs of hand wraps to fight properly into large gloves. “Gloves are so big that they don’t properly fit fighters. When they throw punches, their hand hits different areas. A lot of dead space in gloves. Less injuries in fights than in training.” Wittman has created a glove with three layers of foam to fit the fighters better.
Fighters and gym owners beware: Wittman recommends weighing your gloves. 4 out of 10 gloves he checked were at least 2 ounces less than advertised. Companies are mass producing gloves in the same pattern, and the consumers are getting sold short.
Some cynical members will say that Trevor is just trying to promote his brand; however, after interviewing Trevor for nearly an hour and have spoken to several of his fighters he has coached, it’s clear to me that Trevor’s motivation is the well- being of the fighter. I think if you listen to the interview you will get a real sense of what type of person Trevor is and will want to think more closely about the equipment you are using.

Recently on his radio show, Stann pointed out that Cyborg has received preferential treatment from the UFC and had turned down fights. Cyborg insulted Stann on Twitter, and after a week, Stann basically apologized on his radio show for criticizing Cyborg. Curran Jacobs, who amassed an impressive resume as a Michigan State division 1 wrestler, has entered into the world of Catch Wrestling, MMA and acting. Jacobs recently created some waves on the forums when he called legendary grappler and MMA fighter Josh Barnett a fraud for claiming he is the best catch wrestler in the world. The two have been going back and forth on the underground and may end up going to battle in a catch wrestling match if they can agree on the rules and location. Since his victory last Tuesday, there has been some good news, for example, supposedly, Trump plans to cut off aid to Obama’s “moderate rebels” in Syria who cut off heads, attack Christian villages and kill all within, and even eat hearts and livers on Youtube, and The Trans-Pacific Partnership is dead! And there’s been some bad news, like
the fact that Trump, just as Obama did before him, has filled his cabinet with Wall Street and Washington insiders.
Many are now out in the streets protesting in Move.on, Democrat Party and George Soros organized demonstrations. We will analyze how we can build an anti-Trump, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement, and what role liberal organizations like Move On and the Democrat Party and other Soros-funded front groups play, and what our relationship with them should be.

On this MMA edition of Carson's Corner, we welcome back Gladiator Challenge heavweight and MMA veteran Aaron Brink to the show. Brink fought fellow veteran Dave Huckaba last Saturday in what resulted in the most controversial fight of the year. Brink appeared to have broken the jaw of Huckaba and garnered a verbal submission, but the referee stopped the fight and resumed the action, before Huckaba was deemed the winner. Brink says he was awarded the win; however it is still unclear the official disposition of the fight. We'll discuss this with Aaron and a lot more.

While we cannot predict the impact of this news, we can and will talk about what the impact should be and how the American people can mobilize to put a stop to the kind of governmental and Wall Street criminality Clinton--and Trump--represents.
We will also examine the latest news from Syria where the United States is moving into a dangerous confrontation with Syria and Russia. Some experts are saying we are now in the most dangerous period in global politics since 1962.
