Pt 2 of our series "Love Is a Better Way"
Originally recorded on Feb 13, 2022
We are in 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 looking at the conflict statements Paul makes to highlight the power and importance of love in the middle of his point about the gift of the Holy Spirit in the church.
During the first month of the new year it matters that we're looking ahead at what we want to become, what goals we want to accomplish in 2022. But setting goals is really just a way of deciding how we are going to prepare ourselves to reach those goals.
If we are going to pursue the vision of God for our lives by the end of this year we are going to have to be prepared to trust the voice of God as He shows us what we have not seen and instructs us to do what we have not done. The story of Noah, as told in Hebrews 11:7, helps us prepare ourselves to trust.
The first sermon in the series: "Prepare Yourself"
On the first Sunday of the new year it matters that we're looking ahead at what we want to become, what goals we want to accomplish in 2022. But setting goals is really just a way of deciding how we are going to prepare ourselves to reach those goals.
There is no greater goal that any of us can have than to have out lives become a place of pleasure for the presence of God. We look at the life of Enoch in Hebrews 11:5-6 and in Genesis 5 to help us understand how to become architects of our environments.
We look at the epiphany story from Matthew 2:1-12 in this sermon.
There are three questions that help us become wise in our searching:
What are we seeking?
What are we missing?
What are we worshipping?
The third sermon of Advent season at Fairforest Church of God.
When we are faced with the attacks of "what is not," "why it's not" and "what will never be," we need the joy of God's promise to overwhelm the power of barrenness in our life.
