THE PRAGMATIC CONSTITUTIONALIST IS...
. . . GUIDED in philosophy and political activism by one simple axiom: “There’s the world we want, vs. the world in which we actually live.” Purist libertarian ideologists imagine a world and human interactions in which all beings don’t care what you do with and to yourself — or in interactions with similarly consensual persons — so long as those activities do not negatively impact anyone else’s life, property, or pursuits. In other words: we should, individually, be able to do whatever we damn well please, so long as we don’t “break the bones or pick the pockets” of anyone not also voluntarily engaging in the same, said activities. The “PRAGMATIC” view understands that human nature is not so simplistic. A majority of humanity are going to choose “safety over liberty.” Most people prefer governmental remediation over free-market solutions . . . even though both are ultimately the product of HUMAN ideas and administration. How are humans who run big government any better than humans who run big corporations? How about humans first be allowed to “run themselves”— for better, or worse?
. . . A CONSTITUTIONAL libertarian, but in no way associated with the Libertarian Party. While I hold many things in common with that Party, I have found them to be, well – a typical political party. As such, they are often prone to look more after the interests of the Party, above the interests of libertarianism, or the nation. One visit to a Party meeting, and you might see them more as a social club of political misfits and outcasts than a viable political force, with too many of the Libertarian Party stereotypes on full display. Most “small l” libertarians believe the Founding of the United States was the first true libertarian experiment, and our Constitution is more than just the law of the land, but the guiding framework for the type of small government to which we need return — limiting the interference of government into our lives, but also protecting our individual liberties.

George Tanios was wrongfully charged by the DOJ with 10 felony counts, including the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick - despite the fact of irrefutable video evidence that he did no violence against any law enforcement officer and was nowhere near Sicknick. Nevertheless, George was 'swatted' at his home and spent 5.5 months in jail before the DC appellate court forced the presiding judge to release him after twice being denied bond. All those charges were ultimately dropped, and Goerge finally accepted a plea deal that included the trespassing charge, even though he never went inside the Capitol. Case closed? No. Now George is being sued for "wrongful death" by the Sicknick family for $10 million - named in the same case along with former President Trump - and to be presided over by the DOJ's #1 hitman judge in J6 cases, Amit Mehta.
There's no better example of the unlawful, unconstitutional weaponization of the DOJ against individual Americans' civil rights than in George Tanios' ongoing story. There're more punch lines and kicks in the gut, here, than almost any other J6 story. Now, the DOJ is clearly in the retaliation phase of its persecution of George, for having won a 3-to-0 appellate court victory against their attempts to convict an innocent man.

This was a tough interview in some regards. Jake is unapologetic about his actions on January 6. In his violent actions, he believes he was acting in the defense of others who were being attacked by both Capitol Police and DC Metro Police. He even believes he was ordained by God to be put in the position he found himself in that day. Not just by God, but that he was also acting on the principles set forth by this country’s Founding Fathers.
Jake also believes January 6 was the first battle of the second American Revolution. He doesn’t give credence to the conspiracy theories that Antifa or elements of federal agencies were involved in the breaching of those first barricade lines or the Capitol Building itself. He believes those individuals were “true patriots” there to stop the certification of an illegal election in “the spirit of revolution.”
This was a two-part interview — conducted on February 3rd and 16th of 2023 — covering almost two hours of conversation. During Part One of the interview, it got pretty contentious at times. Jake frequently interrupted my questions and at one point he even called me a “tyrant sympathizer.”
During Part Two of the interview — which begins at 57:25 — Jake was much more even-keeled. I think he then understood that my hardline of questions about his actions was less a criticism, and more a desire to understand his mindset on that day.
Jake is passionate and well articulates his ideas and positions. This interview is worth a listen and will be a surprise to those who think January 6 was only instigated by Antifa or “the Feds.”
My position remains unchanged. I still believe January 6 was instigated by professional provocateurs — whomever they might be associated with — and that what I saw that day consisted of three types of individuals: bad people who did bad things, good people who did good things, and otherwise good people who did stupid things — whipped into the fray by those pros. Jake rejects the notion that he falls into any of those categories. Listen, and he’ll tell you why.

As I’ve detailed in Part 1 and Part 2 of this series, The United States Capitol Police (USCP) frontline officers were purposefully blindsided by the events of January 6, 2021. Their leadership withheld vital intel, as well as information about the legally permitted events to take place that day on the Capitol lawn. Emerging from that day’s riotous melee were both heroes and villains.
As we have become painfully aware over the last three years, what is force-fed us by our government officials and their sycophant media sources is far too often the exact opposite of the truth.

Stephen Horn is one of those independent journalists who has been charged for his work on January 6th and has decided to go to trial and argue against "selective prosecution," in light of the fact the DOJ has charged some indy journalists, and not others. Chaos broke loose in the Oath Keepers trial on Monday morning with the announcement Stewart Rhodes had tested positive with COVID, and . . . defense attorney Stanley Woodward had been involved in an accident that same morning . . . leading to a disastrous momentum shift back to the prosecution during Tuesday's cross examination of an FBI witness who they'd previously had on the ropes at the end of the day on Friday. The New York Times mentions him, but cleans up his testimony for public consumption, and only Politico mentions his conviction as a child sex offender.

JD Rivera is an independent videographer/cinematographer who traveled to DC on January 6th with no other intent than to document the rally and surrounding events. When the "story" made its way to the Capitol Building, he did what any video journalist would do and followed that story. Two weeks later, JD was arrested by the FBI and charged with four misdemeanors. Rather than taking a deal -- pleading guilty to crimes he did not commit -- he has decided to go to trial, (which is scheduled for next week). One of the most interesting aspects of this interview is our detailed discussion about the differences in how the DOJ has selectively prosecuted independent journalists who covered that story. Some, like JD, were charged with crimes, others were threatened but not charged, and some have never even been contacted by the FBI. We explore "why."

In Part 1 of this interview Steve Baker introduces Brad Geyer, the defense attorney for January 6th defendant, Ken Harrelson, one of the Oath Keepers charged with the crime of "seditious conspiracy." Mr. Geyer also happens to be Steve's attorney, as well, handling his own threatened prosecution by the DOJ. In this segment, Geyer gives us his background as a former federal prosecutor, why he left the DOJ, and he also speculates as to why after six months since Steve was told by the DOJ that he'd be "charged within the week," that has still not happened. They also take a short diversion into Geyer's concurrent work with victims and the families of those forced into receiving the dangerous drug Remdesivir as part of their COVID-19 treatments. Are they feeding us mixed messages? No. This is a coordinated process of pandering to the leftist base, diversions from the reality of their intentions for everyone else, and a few crumbs of CYA truth so they can 'circle back' and tell us they warned us to prepare. As promised . . . the podcast/vlog game is back up and running. This is a follow-up to my article I wrote about Dave Rubin's announcement that he and his husband have two kids on the way . . . via surrogacy. It mainly focuses on the impassioned pushback I received from one of our own Locals readers/supporters. I go a lot deeper into the religious and moralistic considerations of this hot-button topic than I typically would, but that is the main cog driving the debate and opposition to same-sex couples choosing surrogacy as a means to having children of their own.
Steve talks about the latest TPC Road Trip, the triple-sabotage of his scheduled Raleigh TPC meeting, finally receiving "that" semi-expected-but-still-a-surprise phone call, the latest attacks on civil liberties from the Biden Administration and Big Tech, the Cleveland "Guardians," (huh?), some COVID news, and more!
This podcast is a little different, as Steve (TPC) is being interviewed by a former colleague in the music game, James Newcomb. James played in one of Steve's bands for several months, back a few years ago. He’s now living in Vietnam, (from where he conducted this interview, 11 times zones away), and while still playing trumpet, he also runs a podcast production and consulting business. James dabbles in a lot of areas in his own blogging and podcast efforts, including all things related to trumpet and music entrepreneurism, but he also veers off into the forbidden territories of politics and religion, on occasion. In this podcast, he spends a lot of time on the effect of COVID lockdowns on Steve's own music business, and also drags out a few other personal things about Steve that he may have never shared with the TPC audience. And, they do also talk a little about “trumpet” stuff.
In this podcast, Steve give a short Memorial Day tribute to his Great Uncle who was killed in Italy in the waning days of WW2...then covers some of the whiplash COVID news of the week.
Steve is rather riled up today. Only after government officials express suspicions about the Wuhan lab's culpability in releasing COVID on the world are We The People granted permission to discuss the topic on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube without threat of penalties and de-platforming. This has ALWAYS been a 1st Amendment fight with these so-called "private" companies. If you don't see it yet, then you are lost to us.
A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Steve takes a look inside the Covid Wayback Machine, digital privacy, inflation, and a quick update of where we are at the beginning of the TPC Road Trip, Spring 2021.
Steve covers everything related to North Carolina's governor fully reopening the state with no mask mandate and no capacity restrictions. He has questions. Lots of them.

In this episode Steve goes after Facebook’s fact-checker with a high-capacity magazine after she labels his recent analysis of an NIH-published paper as “Partly False.” Well . . . it wasn’t the analysis that was partly false, or the study itself. It was the fact-checker, who lazily didn’t do her research, and was totally false.

Ha! Well...or so some say. In this episode I respond to some of the criticism of yesterday's podcast about the Chauvin trial verdict, the possible "State of Washington, D.C.," the new cop shooting in Ohio, a couple other cop stories, including the new US Postal Service "iCop" division, and more coming Vaccine Passport initiatives.

In this first TPC podcast I'm excited to introduce to you my partner, Scot Law. We spend a bit of time talking about how our lives intersected, (many moons ago), and some of our plans for TPC’s expansion. It’s just a casual conversation, but I think you’ll better understand the heart and soul of what we’re all about, and where we’re going, and how we look forward to your participation in all aspects of this undertaking. I also make a major announcement of the change in my own personal life's direction in order to fulfill this mission.
