When we think of being transformed by the gospel, we don't usually think of "waiting," but the Bible is very clear that waiting on the Lord is a discipline that changes us. Psalm 103 captures the beauty of the gospel and the blessings of waiting.
What should our attitude be towards the city in which we live, whether it's beautiful Prague or not? Looking at God's people in exile from Jeremiah 29, we learn what our calling is to the city and our vision for the city.
The Bible talks about “house churches,” but where do small group Bible studies fit into the vision & mission of Faith Community? Essentially, small groups are one of the best methods for us to envision our other values and our mission. Phil preaches on Hebrews 10, and Jinna shares a personal testimony about leading and participating in small groups.
Everything that we do, personally and corporately, is shaped by God's Word. The answer to most "Why?" questions becomes "The Bible tells me so." How is God's Word used for our good and His glory, and how can we prepare our hearts to absorb more of His Word?
Why is prayer such an important part of being a Christian, and how does prayer change us? The Lord's Prayer is a wonderful guide that primarily reminds us of our posture and position as a child of God. We hope that Faith Community continues to be a church that values dependent prayer.
Another one of our church values is Worship. Why do we spent time together each week in worship, and what are the blessings of worship? Pastor Jon Coody shares with us how worship is our nature, our mission, and our refuge from Psalm 2.
What does it mean that we are a "Faith Community"? How is a Christian community supposed to be different from a club or clique? We take a look at the first church, from Acts 2, to find some answers.
What do we, as individual Christians and a body of Christ, want to see? As we talk about the vision of Faith Community Church, we'll hear about calling others to be part of the Kingdom of God and why it matters.
What is Faith Community Church's mission, and how does it relate to the mission that God gives to His universal / invisible church? (NOTE: We apologize that the sermon recording cuts off before sections on method and motive.)
As we close our study in Philippians, Paul reminds us of his main theme – joy in all circumstances. At the end of his letter he demonstrates this through explaining his contentment in Christ, and how this fuels him to serve the church.
We've become accustomed to living with a "constant low-level panic," as someone recently called it. What makes us anxious, and what is the remedy for our anxious hearts? Paul, echoing the words of Jesus, tells us not to be anxious and to pray to the God of Peace.
Do you ever feel like you don't belong anywhere? For a Christian this is actually good news, because our citizenship is in heaven - and that affects how we live today!
By what means do we enter the presence of God? There’s a wrong way, and there’s a right way. Paul moves to warning his readers, so that they will not lose their joy in God’s righteousness being given to them.
What does it mean to be in relationship with each other, and how can our relationships bring joy? Closeness - says Paul - comes from serving one another and being on mission together.
How does humility relate to joy? Looking to the example of Jesus, Paul encourages us to demonstrate humility in our lives so that we can experience deeper joy.
What is the basis of joy for a Christian, and how is it distinguished from mere happiness? Learn how Paul introduces himself to his beloved church in Philippi and expresses thanks for them – with great joy.
What does it mean “To live is Christ; to die is gain”? What kind of radical perspective change is required in order to believe that motto, and to live it?
