The aim of HFP is to provide a spotlight on independent authors and the trials and tribulations of writing, told both from a personal perspective and through reviews and interviews of the content of modern independent literature. Monthly content will include two episodes, one a self-hosted episode with Andrew, wherein he discusses the latest in publishing and writing in his own sphere of life. The second will drop at the beginning of the month, to coincide with his monthly newsletter.
The focus of this episode will be on independent authors. The aim will be to read and review a series starter or other initial book offering or reader magnet. After Andrew has read and reviewed the book, the interview will be booked in and a discussion of both the work and the author’s career and background will follow on the podcast. A special section of the newsletter will be devoted to the author and will feature links to their website, the podcast, Andrew’s review, and the Amazon store page.
It was a pleasure and an honour to speak with D.M. Guay, author of the 24/7 Demon Mart series this month. Her books are absolutely riotous - I’ve read both The Graveyard Shift (Book One) and Monster Burger (Book Two). Imagine Kwik-E-Mart Americana mashed up with Faustian devil-deal hellfire mythology for the first, the second is an ode to zombie film and other media. I’ve five-starred both of them - if you like to laugh, check them out.
But not before you listen to Denise talk a bit about herself and her work. This was a fascinating conversation, and after having spoken with her, I can tell you that her books seem to me to be a true expression of her personality, for whatever that’s worth. Pure authenticity here.

In this episode of divine bird shit, I talk smack about The Bawdy Bard #2, Legend Of The Silver Codpiece, which is dropping June 15. I'm so pumped to send this one into the world - I get into a little discussion about how the story came about, how it relates to the previous books I've written. Also a few brief zingers about the books I've read since the last update.

It was truly my pleasure to speak with fellow Atlantic Canadian author Jennifer Shelby for episode 5 of the divine bird dump. We get into discussions of Jenn's inspiration, her life as a nature girl, and a story that left me speechless (for a verbal diarrhea jockey, that's a feat). I feel blessed by the poopy heavens above to have met Jenn and be able to call her friend. She's also a brilliant author - check her out here.
No video on this one - Jenn's a nature girl through and through. Off grid and over the phone.
In this episode, we talk blue poo. In actuality, we get into the launch of Kiss Of The Scarab: A Ghost Story, the Thoth Quadrilogy, some of the philosophical fluff that goes into it, and I basically provide you with some verbal diarrhea for about a half hour. Hey, I don't call it Holy Flamingo Poop for nothing. Check it out here.
n the third episode of birdy poo poo, I interview the man, the myth, the legendarily kind and compassionate orignator of one my Facebook homes, Genre Writers of Atlantic Canada, genre fiction author Peter Foote. This episode was a lot of fun for me - I was all too happy to have Peter on. Hear us speak about writing, influential books, and more with our man in the Annapolis Valley.

In this first solocast, I dive into a discussion of some of the books I've recently reviewed, a discussion of the importance of reviews generally, my philosophy on writing and marketing and the perils of the picaresque.
