Success in the face of adversity. These are the stories of professional and amateur boxers, an exploration of what it takes to become a champion, a leader, and a force for good in society. The Making of Champions is produced in honor and respect for the legacy of Joe Louis--the longest reigning world heavyweight champion whose impact on society can still be measured today. One message that rings across boxing is how the ring saved many from despair. Joe Louis represents what is possible. He showed the world that anyone, regardless of the world around him, could rise and become a champion. So many of the athletes we've met and will continue to meet, tell a story that echoes the themes of Joe Louis's life. It is this chord that resonates with us. It's knowing that there are young people whose courage, hard work, and optimism have carried them out of darkness into the light. This is the inspiration that we believe can be the guiding light to others who face adversity, giving them courage and helping them achieve their goals.
