“Chapters 30–31, together with Jeremiah 32–33, are often called the ‘Book of Comfort’. The main theme is a message of hope for those going into exile, a hope which is also expressed in the preceding chapter (29:10–14).[1]”
“most of the book’s messages of hope are found in chaps. 30–33, called collectively the Book of Consolation or the Book of Comfort. These chapters have been placed in the midst of mostly biographical material. They anticipate a restoration of Israel to God’s favor and a return of the people to their homeland.[2]”

Jeremiah 25-26
This week, we read the Lord’s warnings for those who are listening to the #FalseProphets. We also read about Jeremiah’s trial. This trial is most likely a response to Jeremiah’s sermon against the nation and leaders in ch. 7. Jeremiah’s case is simply, “The Lord called me and compelled me to speak.” The elders spare his life. But not every prophet is spared as we learn about the fate of Uriah.

Jeremiah 18-20
This week, Jeremiah is instructed to go to a potter’s house to watch how they shape the clay and remold clay that isn’t going according to the potter's design. He is also instructed to smash a pot before the elders of Jerusalem to demonstrate the coming judgment. Jeremiah brings his sorrow before the Lord. Being a prophet has been painful for Jeremiah, and he was arrested. He tells the Lord he would stop if he could. However, the Word of the LORD is like a fire in his bones. In his despair, Jeremiah acknowledges that the Lord fights for him.

Overview
Isaiah 63:7-66:24
These are the concluding chapters of Isaiah. Many of the themes from earlier in Isaiah are referred to here. We get a wonderful picture of the New Heavens and the New Earth, and God’s vision of a restored Jerusalem and the nations coming to worship the Lord. We are also told about God’s final judgment for idolaters.

Isaiah 52:13-55:13
These chapters are filled with hope as the LORD reveals more of his plans for salvation. We learn about the Suffering Servant, this messianic figure that will bear the punishment for the sins of humanity. We are giving a picture of an expansive vision of redemption and restoration for the people of Israel and the nations. The LORD also calls out to humanity to seek the LORD while he may be found. This section of Isaiah is so encouraging and powerful.

This week we continue to read the messages concerning the nations. These prophet warnings can be understood as burdens. The message focuses on Moab and Damascus.
Something that stood out to me as I was preparing is the Lord's grief over the destruction and the plight of the refugees. God does not desire to curse and destroy. Sin and rebellion break everything.

This week we wrap up the Scroll of Immanuel and start focusing on God's Warnings to the Nations. The first message is against Babylon, and the Lord promises to defeat this proud nation. At the time of Isaiah's writing, Babylon isn't the major threat, but God sees beyond what we see. This message is a comfort to his people. No matter what empire might try to exalt itself over the Lord, YHWH is still in control. Every empire falls.

We continue reading Isaiah's warning Oracles for the Northern Kingdom of Israel this week. While Judgment was on its way for Israel, Judah also needed to heed the LORD's warnings. And Assyria with all its "pomp" and pride . . . the LORD calls them his tool, and their days of usefulness are numbered.

This week we started the book of Isaiah. Isaiah's first message to the people of Jerusalem was a warning of pending judgment on the corrupt leaders and wealthy in the city. They mistreated the quartet of the vulnerable, the Widow, the Orphan, the Poor, and the Foreigner.

Finally, Ahab's family is removed from influence in the land of Israel and in the kingdom of Judah. Jehu is cleaning house. We also read about Athaliah, the usurper queen in Jerusalem. And Joash shows us that starting well is not as important as finishing well.
