What happens when everything you've built after 18 years no longer feels aligned—and the future is a mystery?
In this deeply personal solo episode of Follow Your Joy, I share the story behind my most significant reinvention in nearly two decades and the unexpected birth of my new company, Reverie + Velvet.
For months, I felt caught between worlds.
My intuition kept telling me something needed to change. The coaching industry was changing in a big way. Technology and AI were disrupting how we work and connect. And despite countless pivots, new ideas, and attempts to find clarity, nothing seemed to really fit.
What looked like an unraveling on the outside was actually making way for something very different. It was transformation and my "real" next identity.
In this vulnerable conversation, I take you behind the scenes of a season marked by uncertainty, loss, grief, identity shifts, and the search for a more authentic way to express who I am at this stage of life.

I believe it arrives when we stop thinking our way through it and instead listen very carefully to our intuition and our higher power, and allow life to reveal what has been waiting for us all along.
For me, it was a God thing. God had been trying to show me and lead me where to land, but I was too busy in the weeds trying to figure it out!
This episode isn't really about launching Reverie + Velvet, although I am very excited about this! It's about a woman who spent months searching, pivoting, grieving, questioning, praying, listening, and ultimately surrendering.
It was a return to my:

Today’s guest, Chris Sobolev, co-owner of Super Savvy Travelers and a rising fine artist, returns to share the extraordinary “after” story of what’s happened since her first appearance on the show in July 2024.

My love of Italy began in 1996 when I opened my first business, an entertainment PR company, where I worked with celebrities, visual and performing artists. I named it Capri PR because of my fascination and love of Italy and the Amalfi Coast.
Same time, famous author Frances Mayes wrote and released her memoir Under the Tuscan Sun. I was so enamored with her, the story and her lifestyle. I said at the time, “I want her life!”
The dream was planted. It was not until 2017 after 9 yrs in my coaching business that I honored that dream thanks to my coach at the time who helped me recover my dreams and make money with joy.
The result of that coaching session was a month-long stay in Florence, Italy that changed my life. Three more trips to Italy happened between 2017-2024. This is how Chris and I met as you will find the full story in our conversation.
Now, Chris is living the dream she once only imagined—owning several homes in Italy, making art, and running a thriving YouTube channel and Italian Home Ownership business with her husband, Pete.

When I choose guests for the podcast, I come from an intuitive place obviously given the purpose and premise of this show and how I operate. I also look for creatives with compelling stories – the strength of the human spirit.

Resilience is the first word that came to mind when I began composing the script for today’s show and guest. Ashley Rivera is a beautiful example of resilience, courage, and intention.
Not only does her life journey exude this, but I have had the privilege of witnessing and experiencing these traits as her coach over the last 5 months through my Create Cohort and private coaching. Sept 18th I flew to Italy for the 4th time since my life and business makeover in 2017. One of the cool things about producing a podcast is the variety it brings to my life. By being open to learning something new, it will always help keep things fresh and inspiring.
Following that, I always find it fascinating to learn how creatives best express their true, authentic selves – which is what I refer to as your zone of genius. BTW, that has nothing to do with your IQ. Instead, it’s a space in you where things come most naturally, it brings you the most joy while operating out of your highest creativity resulting in a lucrative income. Wendy Colonna, a Louisiana native and Austin-based singer-songwriter, calls herself a Musician. Mojo Maker. Mentor. Her musical career spans two decades with nine albums.
She started as a professional musician in 1997 signed to a small label in Louisiana. What comes to mind when I say PERSONAL BRANDING IS WHO YOU ARE NOT WHAT YOU DO?
That’s been my tag line since 2008 when I began coaching creative entrepreneurs how to turn themselves into a brand online and monetize it.
I decided to reinvent myself after 22 years in entertainment publicity because it was an intuitive nudge that said – time to do something more meaningful and at the same time the world was evolving to online – this was 2006, 2007. I was so inspired by the innovation of viral videos, blogs, social platforms – remember MY SPACE?
My entire PR career, I built and managed personality PR for celebrities, visual and performing artists creating personal brands strategically on how the world perceived them.
Bringing everything offline to online, I knew I had to learn a whole new way of working – so I put it out to the Universe and allowed myself to be in discovery mode for about a year.
It was the emergence of the online world that caught my attention in 2005, 2006 that eventually led me to a women’s business coach who was teaching how to build an online business. That all sounded great, but I had no idea what I would do and how to build that online until she gave me my path.
She said “You have been developing personal brands for over 20 yrs. Develop yourself into a personal branding coach for entrepreneurs and teach them how to turn themselves into a brand and monetize it through email marketing, social media, and a blog. I thought – great! But how do I that?

In the human potential world, we have a saying that is very true. “What is personal is universal.”
On one hand, for good reason, you may be a private person where being vulnerable in front of people, especially on video, or anywhere publicly, can feel very uncomfortable and not acceptable. So, you keep it to yourself reserved for very close family and friends. That’s respected.
Then there are others like myself and my guest, Dylan Jones, where we know there is a double blessing when we are courageous enough to listen to our intuition and be publicly vulnerable with our truth.
The double blessing is the receiving of support from others you hoped for and being an inspiration to others and impacting their lives through your own story of struggle to transformation. That is the gift in the challenge.
For Dylan, who is an actress and transformational life coach, her decision to deliver her vulnerability was a calling for healing through her own one woman show called Siren Song currently being presented at the Hollywood Fringe Festival June 13-30 – Her specific dates for her show are June 14, 24, 28
“I have always known that acting was my thumbprint and destiny from the time I was very young. It has often felt like it chose me as it is so much a part of how I see the world,” says Dylan.
Her Siren Song solo show invokes acting icons Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck and Greta Garbo to unwind the riddle of how to be a woman when the women you wanted to be like aren’t real and the woman who raised you is disappearing before your eyes. Her mother was her touchstone most of her life. Now Dylan watches over her mother who is under careful supervision for an illness.

The beauty of intuition is that you never know where it will lead you. You must trust the direction and not listen to anyone’s uncertain feedback. You can count on it never being logical, rational, or making much sense. A usual reaction to an intuitive hunch is “Huh? Why that?”

My guest is quite fascinating and inspiring. If you combine a biology and paleontology professor with the innate love of photographing the wild in its Yellowstone habitat, you have Dr. Larry Taylor. He knew this was his path from the innocent age of five. That’s incredible. He shares his intriguing story of how he followed his joy and gut instincts that led him to live a dream life at his current young age of 38.
He proudly has an undergraduate degree in physiology, a master’s degree in genetics, and a doctorate degree in paleontology. After securing a job as a biology professor in Montana, he soon started pursuing his dream of wildlife photography in earnest. He explains how he monetized his love of photographing wildlife by selling his art and offering Yellowstone photo tours teaching clients how to capture the mystery of the wild through their camera lens. Larry’s story is deeply moving, hopefully, igniting the dreamer in you to listen to your own intuition and follow your joy rather than be distracted by the outside world’s opinions and expectations. Happy New Year! This is the last episode of 2023. Thank you for being with me and my guests all year – I am so grateful and blessed to have a platform to bring you behind the scenes of a variety of creative entrepreneurs from all over the world who are willing to be vulnerable and share their challenge to victory stories to give you hope and inspiration. Their stories illuminate the realities of being that passionate entrepreneur who is resilient, driven, and a visionary.
You will find in all the stories, each of my creatives knew intuitively what was best for them especially in the face of uncertainty and what others may have wanted. They took a sharp right turn from what they were doing to follow their joy – that inner nudge – redirecting them on another path unplanned yet much more in alignment with who they were meant to be.
With that, my last guest of 2023 is a beautiful example of this scenario. Carlene Thissen, an original hippie girl from the 60s, is an author and a singer/songwriter who expresses her artistry through singing, guitar, and piano but her career didn’t follow that path for a while, which you will hear how she made her sharp right turn to follow her joy and intuition.
Carlene says the best three days of her life were spent at the world famous 1969 Woodstock Music Festival. Today, she offers you an immersive experience of that story in her multimedia program.
Her autobiographical song, “Back There Again,” this Woodstock hippie girl, “…cut her hair and got a career, and lost herself for 30 odd years,” is the journey of when she detoured from her creative roots.
Carlene says a series of God-driven (intuitive) events led her back to her true calling. I know you will love her story as much as I did. Wishing you an outstanding 2024!

Happy Holidays! So, how are you feeling about this year coming to an end? There continues to be so much change.
In my last solo cast of 2023, I share the consensus of what I have experienced in 2023 along with many I have talked with, coached, sat with over coffee, read online, heard on podcasts, and intuitively felt most of the year.
The intuitive answer is the big shift. Life will never be the same. Now three years into this global energetic shift, we must quiet ourselves enough and more often to listen for answers to our needs from our intuition. We are being called to listen even more.
Allow the logic and ego mind to do its thing when you need to implement the inner guidance to begin taking action, but not a minute sooner.
I share three practices to support strengthening your intuition and discuss how our inner guidance system, our inner GPS, is our sixth sense that we were born with but most were not taught how to use it. Society and collective consciousness have not evolved enough to make that change – BUT we are on the way with all the excellent teachers today insisting we learn what comes natural to us and for us.
I take you through a current story of when I patiently waited for that guidance and what came of that was my dream come true.
This and more weaves the story of how Sogno Toscano Retreat came to be and I give you all the glorious details in taking the adventure of a lifetime in Tuscany Italy.

Maybe you’re waiting for the “perfect moment.” That persistent voice of ego whispers, “You don’t need it or you’ve tried something similar before and it didn’t work.”
We’ve all been there. I share in this episode about several profound personal losses I had over the last two years that led me to currently redesign my life while asking myself, “How good will I allow my life to get?”

There’s no perfect time or situation. Today, say “yes” to your dreams. Pursue your long-held desires so that you no longer put them on the back burner. It’s time to prioritize your dreams and eliminate all excuses.

I spent the first half of my career for 22 years as an entertainment publicist in Hollywood. I monetized my PR Journalism degree into a dynamic, fun, creative career composing news and feature angles to secure media coverage for my celebrity clients, visual and performing artists. Can we talk money, creatives, empaths, symptoms and solutions?
In my solo cast today, I have been wanting to share my tried and true four money habits of high earning creative entrepreneurs given I have been coaching them for years and achieving great results with clients.
Here is a glimpse into how I develop high(er) earning creative entrepreneurs.
15 years ago when I began my coaching business as my second business after 20 years in the entertainment industry as a publicist, I was extremely curious how multiple six and seven figure income entrepreneurs made financial decisions on a daily basis.
I learned from my mentors back then about certain daily habits around money that kept them moving forward closer to their financial goals.
I share with you a few of those many daily habits of high earning creative entrepreneurs that I integrated into my life years ago, as I aspire for you, too.
Important note: If these habits don’t come easy to you or you have resistance, that is a clue and good reason to explore your relationship with money. Your resistance or not being able to resonate with the habits are just symptoms telling you something needs healing and solutions.

After attempting to pursue a more careful path in his career he decided that if others could DJ and make money doing it, so could he. My guest today is one of my amazing clients and friends David Krieger. He is an award-winning DJ and producer. His career began over 15 years ago working as a radio DJ in Philadelphia and MTV VJ in New York. After receiving a Broadcasting degree from Temple
University, Krieger moved to Los Angeles, DJing scores of milestone celebrations and events annually, including holding residencies at The W, The Standard, The London, The Sunset Room in Hollywood, and a major career high - the HP Lounge of Coachella 2019. He is best known for being named “Best DJ in Los Angeles” of 2018, 2019, and 2020 by California Wedding Day Magazine. Krieger serves on the Board of Directors for the Wedding International Professionals Association (WIPA), and has won the WIPA “DJ of Excellence Award” twice. In 2021, Krieger expanded his business to be bicoastal and established a new home-base in Atlanta where he currently lives with his fiancée Mandy, his dog Butch, and cat Mr. Charles.
In today’s episode David talks about how following his intuition has led to creating amazing moments of success on stage and even the big move of his business and family across the country. David explains how his ADHD affects his business and how he approaches leaps in his career. He talks about the impact of instagram on his business and strategies that have contributed to his ongoing success doing what he loves - creating and playing music.
Our biggest takeaway from this interview is that success is still inevitable if you listen to your intuition. If you have ever felt unsure if you are capable of big success and you’re not the type to have a 10 year plan, then take a moment to get inspired.
