Some rock music I wrote and recorded tonight. I watched a youtube revealing the stems to Nirvana's Territorial Pissings. I want to learn from it by making my own song and producing it in a similar way.
How'd I do? :)
I'm also excited because I performed all the instruments. This is a break through for me. My limitation has always been drums, but i'm starting to get good enough to do it. I'll admit I cheated on this one. The song is 200bpm and i performed the drums at 180bpm. :)
I use Reaper as my DAW, an Ibenez hollowbody as my guitar, a Sterling StingRay as my bass, and my LaGrima drumset (with a few cymbal additions).

I'm a little shy to share a vid of me playing drums when I'm not perfect at them yet, but I'm testing the waters to see if you guys like to see what happens at our band practices.
All three of us are songwriters and every band practice we rehearse to perfect playing our songs for future shows. Though something happens sometimes inbetween rehearsing the songs.... we call it Flappy.
We frequently go into spontaneous jams and it gets flappy. These creative jams are fun and great for practice and finding new riffs to turn into future songs.
I'm usually playing bass but I have been learning and practicing drums. I plan on recording my own drums on my next album (also the main reason I haven't released any new songs in awhile). This past Saturday, I was able to get on the drums for a bit. @fauxsophisticate is on guitar and @orkhammer switched from guitar to bass for this jam.
If you like hearing are spontaneous creations let me know and I'll share more. I have a couple more jams with me on drums and I'll be sharing vids of our written songs too this week. :)

Leadership Class is the project of me and @orkhammer . We have been working this past year taking songs written by both of us individually and turning them into something we can play live as a 3-piece rock band. Jason (orkhammer) and I go back a long ways. We started our first band together in highschool! It was called Zero and yes, I still have the cassette album we made.
This is our rendition of my song The Vibe. Definitely adding the rock to my original synthed out version :)

I've been forunate enough to be busy playing live shows every week! Most of my time has been spent practicing on my acoustic. Tonight I decided to break away and paint in my virtual reality art room. Hope you enjoy the timelapse and the song playing is one of my originals :)))

This one was fun! I painted the axolotl, an endangered species. This dude is so cute and ugly. definitely an alien!
I'm experimenting with selling this design in my etsy shop. I've almost reached 700 sales! wooo! Normally I draw cute and weird animals as cartoons with Krita, but I really enjoy the feel of painting on canvas. PaintingVR on Oculus Quest is really making this more enjoyable than sitting at my computer. Plus, I feel it makes the design more unique. I hope others think so too!

Finished up this creepy and cute but very green experimental painting! I could have worked on this forever because it's really fun. it's virtual reality, no mess to clean up afterwords haha.
Creepy because of the skull and some of the creatures hiding out and cute because of the cute creatures that live here too! This is digital art, but this program has no undo button! No bucket fill or ability to change the color of applied paint. Every mistake I have to paint over or live with. I was tempted to adjust colors with Krita but decided it's better to leave as is. Not that pretty at a distance, but interesting as you get close.

Still experimenting and adjusting to painting on a large canvas in virtual reality.
I thought I was finished but the painting doesn't look good from a distance so I have some ideas on what to do next.
The song I also created last night and it is also a work in progress, but okay spooky synthy moody as it is hahha. I was planning on adding guitar next. what do you think? guitar or leave it spooky synthy?

I was inspired to try VR art when I listened to a podcast by Jason Louv
where he interviewed the cyberwitch VR artist, Sara Phinn .
The thing that really sold me was when she said it improved her
lucid dreaming. Once I got started I realized it had way more benefits than that. It's a wonderful form of therapy. I get lost in the art :)
The song is an old one of mine from 2003. The fact that it's 18
years old explains that awful buzz, but now it's just apart of the song.

Wrote a new song tonight and experimented with capturing a live performance of it.
So first off, I got a new guitar pedal. The Boss Synthesizer and oh my it's fun. As I was exploring the features I came up with this groove and just went with it (sounds familiar but i can't place it).
For this live run through, I'm using the synth pedal and a delay pedal all through my marshall valvestate tube amp. The guitar is my Ibanez hollow body. I love this guitar :)))))
My interface has room for two mics, so I've got my condenser for vocals in one and the other up against my amp. The DAW i use is Reaper. This recording is only 3 main tracks
Guitar: The only thing I did to my guitar was add Ozone 8 and use the Wide Synth preset to fill the song. I did add just a little lead guitar to the end of the song for fun.
Vocals: I used Waves HCOMP: tight vocals setting, Waves Vitamin vocal compressor, and the Greg Wells Voicecentric (where the delay and reverb come from)
Drums: I programmed myself with the Tony Coleman Brush Set and used it's built in reverb a little
I just did a quick master with Ozone 8.
I'm loving how this set up gave me a total 80's vibe.
I wanted to get this written and recorded tonight so my vocal performance is shaky and i wrote the lyrics quickly (usually i drag lyrics out for months hahaha) but the challenge was met ;)

So when I was first recommended Talk Talk, I had never heard of them. After some exploring, i realized they performed and wrote a song I love, It's my Life. I was tempted to do that one, but wanted to stick with the challenge of learning a completely unfamiliar song.
I'm really glad I did. At first listen I didn't really comprehend the meaning of the lyrics. Then i watched the music video which really threw me off! haha, i enjoyed it though! goofy artsy fun.
It wasn't until I played it through a few times that it really started to sink in and then I really felt it. Now i love this song!
I messed up the lyrics a little but because of the condition of my hands I can only try so many takes before i have to quit. so this was the best and final performance
