This week our incredible Reality Check Leadership podcast guest is Diogo Cunha.
I have “met” Diogo while watching the biggest reality show in Portugal, Big Brother, and I was impressed with his ability as a contestant to challenge the norm of those type of competition.
As a remote worker by nature, he shared with us a negative leadership example of a former leader that led the team using a negative pressure and a positive example of a clothes retail shop leader that led using trust and delegation.
We have discussed Big Brother, remote work, leadership and much more!
A quote: “If you feel you are not capable of, or do not have the tenacity, or just because someone wants you to be a leader, you have a choice to make. Be a person, a friend instead, if you do that, you will be fine.” Diogo Cunha
This week our incredible Reality Check Leadership podcast guest is Beatriz Madureira, and happiness at work is the key ingredient this episode!
We have met on Linkedin, crossing comments and it was clear to me that she had a fantastic and positive energy.
With 19 years of experience in people management and as a lawyer, she works currently as Happiness at Work Strategist, pretty involved in themes as Emotional Intelligence, Leadership, Effective Communication, amongst others.
Beatriz shared a couple of negative examples on bad leadership of the past, mostly about the lack of sensitivity and respect for her personal life, and another fantastic examples of a leader that during heavy work hours was always there with the team, leading by example.
A quote: “Treat others as they would like to be treated and lead yourself first!” Beatriz Madureira
This week our incredible Reality Check Leadership podcast guest is Hans Snel and this is an episode full of great practical tools for leaders out there.
I’ve worked together with Hans for a couple of years while we were building a customer success practice and team in Lisbon. Besides his strategical mindset Hans always brought to the conversation a ton of knowledge, experience, and passion on topics as coaching, personal development, and leadership. I had to invite him as my guest!
On this episode you will learn his approach on how to better understand people, understand the way we learn, what are our team’s strengths and how to use this knowledge to push motivation and growth.
Hope you enjoy and learn as much as I did!
A quote: “You need to be able to accept when you're able to fly that you can fall, you can fall flat on your face, but you then can stand up and try again.”
This week our incredible Reality Check Leadership podcast guest is Marta Carvalho!
I cannot believe this is the 18th episode already and I am happy to share that this time I have once again another fantastic communicator and guest.
Born and raised in Lisbon, with a fantastic smile and positive energy, Marta is People and Culture Partner @Salsify, a software company focused on empowering brand manufacturers to win on the digital shelf.
Passioned by people management, recruitment and people related topics, she shared a negative leadership example around micromanagement, something very characteristic to a lot of leaders out there. On a positive leadership example, she shared an incredible story of a successful restructuring of a company done by a leader who was able to do this difficult task but bringing people onboard, listening and always taking people as a top priority.
Join us to another episode, live on the usual platforms!
A quote: “Be human and always ask yourself how you’d like to be treated first”
This week our incredible guest is Ton Dobbe!
If you don’t know who is Ton Dobbe I’d like to invite you to check on his podcast (Tech Entrepeneur on a mission), his book (The remarkable effect), his company (Value inspiration), and his feed here on Linkedin 😊
We have shared paths a couple of years ago and the first time I saw Ton he was on stage giving an incredible inspiring keynote about ERPs future!!! (normally a not so exciting theme on a keynote format!). Well, guess what… Ton made it exciting and he definitively inspired me to look to that business in a different way. We kept in touch ever since.
Passioned by business he dedicates his life in helping software businesses and their leaders to create remarkable products while working on the transformative ways to get there.
We had a really cool conversation about leadership and the effects of positive and negative leadership on teams and businesses. We also took the opportunity to share our common thoughts about @Jose Duarte, CEO of Infovista who has been for me one of the most inspirational leaders I’ve ever worked with!!
A quote: “A team that works together and collaboratively always wins!”
This week our incredible guest is Marta Branquinho!
The first podcast of 2021 deserves optimism, positive energy and a terrific vibe, so… let me introduce you to Marta Garcia as she is all above and much more 😊

This week our incredible guest is Daniela Costa!
Daniela is Executive director of Prime Group, an International group focused on Engineering, Innovation and Digital Transformation. She is a great communicator, a fantastic person to be with always eager to share experiences and have good conversations. Her professionalism, risk taking and tenacity made her quickly grow and gain further responsibilities.
We quickly found a lot of things in common during our conversation that was really an easy going and happy chat!
On a negative leadership example, she shared the typical and unfortunate micro-management style that some leaders continue to demonstrate, while on a positive note, she shared with us a positive story about her actual leader and his relentless challenge, motivation and empowerment to his team that drive so much passion and energy.
A quote: “As a leader you should learn from your own mistakes, empower people and become “useless” so that your teams can grow and become as autonomous as possible” Daniela Costa
This week I am thrilled to share with you that we have a very special episode on the Reality Check Leadership podcast.
This one is a long one and it could not be in any other way as my incredible guest is Lerio Cunha! Lerio is someone I was fortunate enough to meet via Linkedin and that had the generosity to accept my challenge for an episode that we’ve agreed to be dedicated to vulnerability in leadership.
During our one hour conversation we drove the conversation from a couple of clips from the fantastic Brené Brown, and from there, we just let the conversation flow…
Lerio is an incredible human being, humble, generous, a fantastic communicator that has a way to share stories that quickly entangle and captivate you and you just want to hear more…
He is an International trainer, keynote speaker, he loves stories and of course, he loves people.
On this episode you’ll get a down to earth conversation on leadership between two guys with different life experiences that are baffled with Brené’s simplicity of words while explaining such a complex topic.
A quote: “The person that just heard us being vulnerable, that witnessed that moment coming from us, they felt privileged, they take a responsibility posture and take this as a gift, to make sure they won’t break that trust anymore.” Lerio Cunha
I am proud to share the result of 28 minutes of conversation with an incredible talented communicator, a former journalist, news anchor, leading nowadays a communication agency, a woman, a force of nature!
I am proud to share that my guest for this episode is the incredible Lara Santos!
Having a conversation with Lara is such a joy and a walk in the park because she makes it so easy! 😊She had so many stories and examples to share about leadership that this episode is full of goodies for all of us to learn and be inspired.
Life behind the scenes in a radio or in a TV is not all glamourous as it seems, and Lara had to take tough decisions to focus on her personal life and happiness. Still several people suffer from intimidation and although there are great examples out there of people leaders that know what they are doing, we can still see too many bad apples, and one bad apple can ruin everything!
“Dear leaders, accept that those starting their career can also teach you a lot! Being humble and human in an incredible skill”.
This week our incredible guest is Daniel Costa!
Daniel is on a mission to create value for clients, work colleagues and people who rely on him to achieve their goals. He is Partner & Executive Director at Growin and oversees International Business.
Daniel shared with us a positive story about his actual leader whose mission is (believe it!!!!) to help him become better than himself 😊 Simply wow! On the negative leadership aspect, he shared examples of some leaders that unfortunately take decisions to negatively impact specific members of their teams.
As a surprise question... 😮 I've asked him on how to lead with someone with a difficult personality! Curious on his feedback ?
A quote: “As a leader you should first listen, lower your guard, look for points in common, and with that you will be able to better understand how exactly your team is feeling. Clarity and transparency on our purpose is essential” Daniel Costa

He shared with us a cool negative personal leadership example involving the girl of his dreams, an incredibly special day, and the relentless desire of his own leader to interrupt him on a date! On the other hand, José worked with a leader that stepped up when he had personal problems that needed flexibility and support.
A quote: “The way we communicate and inspire others is extremely important. Leaders need consistency but are never at their best every single day, so take that into consideration!”

Duarte works in a world top player in Low code development named Outsystems and his job is to assess DevOps practices in place in OutSystems customers, analyze gaps and promote recommendations for improvement.

On a more positive note, Duarte worked with a leader that was able to motivate everyone to work with a smile on their faces even if the job was not so cool! That involved autonomy, responsibility, and a learning process when things didn’t go as planned.
A quote: “People are the best assets of a company, that is where the business knowledge is so take care of them!”
This week we have a special and totally unexpected episode of the Reality Check Leadership podcast 😊!
I confess that a couple of hours ago this episode was not expected neither planned, but my passion for American politics and excitement for this election night “forced” me to do something about it. I had to urgently speak and share with someone this topic… URGENTLY…!!! 😉
It is with great happiness that I present my special guest for this episode that is also a dear friend of mine, Miguel Rações.
Miguel works at Google in the amazing New York City and we just had an amazing conversation about his career, life in the states, politics and leadership.

As part of her multicultural nature, Sheyda loves differences of opinion, differences of culture, believing that differences drive growth. She shared with us a personal leadership example that has affected negatively her motivation to continue working hard for a company. On the other hand, she shared a positive example out of her actual leadership, where she feels genuinely listened to, even sometimes without the reason on her side.
A quote: “People sometimes have the illusion they are lying very well and telling a story that makes sense. It is not rare to be caught on a lie, it is rare to get caught on a lie and be confronted with it.”
This week our incredible guest is Ricardo Ramos.
Ricardo is an experienced competitive analyst at Qlik with more than 15 years working in Business Intelligence & Analytics. On the other hand, Paulo has also had fantastic leaders along his life and he was delighted to share some of those leaders’ names and why they were so incredible to him.
“The fact that you are a top performer in sales doesn’t imply that you have the abilities/capabilities/skills necessary to be a leader.”
