My guest, Jake Woodall, began his life on a farm in a close-knit family whose parents instilled faith in a God in heaven and a strong work ethic. Their strategy could not have turned out better. It is a long way from digging peanuts in rural Taylor County GA to becoming an officer of a New York Stock Exchange publicly traded energy acquisition company based in Houston TX, but he made that journey - and he never forgot his roots or the life principles instilled in him as a child.
As an All-American running back at the University of Georgia and a Pittsburgh Steeler first-round draft pick, Tim Worley had life by the tail. But despite all the God-given ability and unlimited opportunity at hand, his life began spiraling out of control. The landing was very hard but life-changing for him and many others as he now traverses the country telling his story. Go Dawgs.

Many will remember University of Georgia All SEC placekicker, Kim Braswell. If you are a Dawg fan and in your late 60's, you will will remember his winning field goal against the Florida Gators in 1972 with seconds left on the clock. Dawg fan were very loud in Jacksonville that fall afternoon cheering for Kim Braswell. The fact is, Kim did not hear the cheering that day. He was deaf. Additionally, Kim was suffering from diabetes. It's a miracle he was even on the field that day or the three years he lettered for UGA in football or the four years he lettered in baseball. Against all odds, Kim not only was a great baseball player and kicked footballs with amazing precision but he also had to constantly kick adversity aside to survive as an athlete and later as long time high school football coach. You will chuckle at some of his stories but you will also be inspired - and maybe even take a fresh look at others who are fighting adversity in their lives. Dr Randy Kennedy is a long time pastor and minister and much in demand speaker. He also spent many years as the chaplain for pro athletic teams and a senior golf tour. On February 9, 1964, the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. When they did, our music changed forever. In an effort to be like them, garage bands began popping up all over America. The Malibus, from Ft Valley, Ga, was one of those bands. The Malibus made an indelible mark of their own on the hearts of many - not only in central Georgia but in other southeastern states. These six guys, now close to 75 years or age, are planning their last dance for January 28, 2023 at the Perry GA Agricenter. As the two other previous reunions at this place, this final dance will sell out quickly at 1,000 tickets and will go on sale soon. I recently had the privilege to sit down with all six of them and listen to them tell their stories as they took a nostalgiic look at their incredible ride that began in 1964. Get ready to smile and laugh - and maybe even have a lump in your throat before we are done.

On Dec 3, 1923 Howard Underwood from Reynolds Ga was murdered by two teenagers, Willie Jones and Gervis Bloodworth. They were convicted and sentenced to death by hanging. The. two were executed a little over two years after the murder after becoming like folk heroes throughout the United States. This is a story of evil, devastating loss, legal maneuvering, hard feelings between long time friends, jailhouse religion, evangelism and capital punishment. A book, "Murder at the County Line" by Avoline Bloodworth was released in 1985. This is the rest of the story.

The bright JESUS CARES sign that hung high on the tall Macon Rescue Mission building for so many years in downtown Macon GA always got my attention. To me it was more than a sign. It was a pronoucement of a truth that I had been taught all my life. If nobody else cares, Jesus does. He always has and he always will. And Macon Georgia seemed to be proud of it. For many years, the Macon Rescue Mission was a homeless shelter. In the name of Christ, the mission provided shelter and basic needs for those who had no place to sleep. It was a good thing and represented all that was good in Macon and Middle Georgia. But times have changed. Several years ago, the leaders of the mission made a decision to do more - much more. They decided to offer a program to give hope to the exponentially growing number of people who have lost all hope and they took a huge leap of faith.
