Welcome to the RUBilingual podcast! We're a group of PhD students at Rutgers University studying bilingualism and second language acquisition. We're going to talk about the benefits of learning new languages, what it means to be bilingual, and more!
In Episode 6, RU Bilingual talks about third language (L3) acquisition. We talk about L3 acquisition by bilinguals, describe who L3 learners are, and discuss current research in L3 acquisition.

In Episode 3, RUBilingual talks about heritage languages. We interviewed Elías Ticona, who is in charge of indigenous affairs in the Department of Education of the government of Chile. Mr. Ticona is also a linguist and a professor of Aymara as a second language. In the interview, he tells us about the status of Aymara as a heritage language and his experience as a heritage speaker of Aymara.

In Episode 2, RUBilingual talks about raising bilingual children in the US. We interviewed Dr. Michele Goldin, who is currently an Assistant Professor of Bilingual Education and TESOL at Touro College, NY. At the time of this interview, Dr. Goldin was a Visiting Assistant Professor at University at Albany, SUNY, NY. Dr. Goldin is a researcher of bilingual education and a mother of two bilingual children. In the interview, she tells us about the importance of raising bilingual children, and she comments on her personal experience in a bilingual household.

In our first episode, RUbilingual talks about what it means to be bilingual. We dispel some common myths about speaking two or more languages. Also, we interview bilinguals in the Spanish and Portuguese Department at Rutgers University and they tell us about the positive impact that bilingualism has had in their lives.
