Matsy and Micah are a couple of cartoon enthusiasts who have decided to torture/enlighten themselves by assigning each other classic cartoons to watch. Hear them discuss animation from the old days, and decide whether your childhood has been ruined, or if you need to revisit some hidden gems.
Well, we made it to 100! Now let's go out on top with some series finales. We're going to watch Home Movies and see how Brendon and friends deal with not knowing how to end things, along with not knowing how to do makeup or build a grill. And then we'll watch Fables of the Green Forest, and find out what happens when furry woodland creatures need to sleep for the winter. Turns out not much! Plus, we both reflect on the things we've done, and the things we didn't get to do. We made it 100 episodes without talking about the Smoggies!

Meanwhile, we won't learn anything from Ren and Stimpy making and producing their own cartoon, but maybe we'll learn what's wrong with Wilbur Cobb (no, we won't). Plus, Matsy watches more Bluey and ventures into previously unseen Ralph Bakshi, while Micah watches and reads all kinds of things, from feet to questionably canonical Oz. Walter Lantz!

It's another one of those times where we started without a theme, but got one anyway: things that have the same title as more famous things! First of all, we're looking at the OTHER Ghostbusters, and how they deal with spaceships. Huh. And then we look at what happens when Dorothy returns to Oz, but not according to Disney. Turns out it's very similar to what happened the first time. Plus, Micah also returns to Oz, in a book where the increasingly sick-of-Oz Frank L. Baum starts importing characters from his other works in a desperate attempt to keep himself interested in churning these things out, while Matsy is enamored with a cartoon for very small Australian children starring a blue puppy. All this, and we dig into the Animation Cel-ery mailbag!

For our theme this week, we picked forgotten or disliked cartoons that at least one of us enjoyed. We have one of Asia's million adaptations of Journey to the West, in this case made super cool for the 90's in the form of Monkey Magic. And we have the Disney animated series that didn't make it to the afternoon, starring the Wuzzles. Plus, Matsy discusses things that disappoint him about repeated visits to the Avatarverse (which is ironic) and repeated visits to Neo Edo with Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles, while Micah reads more Oz and finishes with Steven Universe once and for all. Okay, so this time is all about animals, I guess. Bobo the elephant wants to join the circus, but first he needs to get on a boat for people. And two different versions of three little pigs are trying to evade wolves by ensconcing themselves in homes of varying levels of security. Wonder how that'll turn out. But the most dangerous animal is man, especially when men want to beat each other up for fun; they just didn't count on one of the men being Popeye! Plus, Matsy fills in the gaps in his knowledge of the Avatarverse by watching The Legend of Korra, while Micah continues with Steven Universe Future and non-animated Oz books. And I edited out some of the more ridiculous miscommunications we had while recording.

We had a theme of troublemakers, and it's funny how things work out sometimes; we each gave the other a cartoon we thought they'd hate, and then it turned out they didn't hate it as much as we did. Does that make sense? Let me explain. Matsy gave Micah an episode of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures that he thought was the worst thing since Ned's Newt, but it turned out Micah kinda liked it! And Micah gave Matsy an episode of Speed Racer that he thought would annoy him tremendously, but Matsy was ready for it. Maybe the real troublemakers were us. Plus, Micah revisits Steven Universe in the Future and keeps reading Oz books from the past, while Matsy considers an unexpected turn in the Rick and Morty saga and digs into the questionable films of Ralph Bakshi. Kiss me, Princess. You've stumbled onto our discussion of The Legend of Zelda! We're watching what the internet has determined are the three best episodes of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show's Friday afternoon Hylian diversions, so kiss me, Princess. First we get to see an alicorn... sorry, we get to see a FLYING UNICORN interrupt Link's attempts to get Zelda to kiss him. Then we see (kiss me, Princess) a questionable medieval waterpark with butt-shredding brick slides. Plus, Micah gets to the part of She-Ra with Mica and watches gothic anime The Girl from the Other Side, while Matsy finds a new cartoon that isn't in English, so he watches 1972 Hanna-Barbara sitcom Wait Till Your Father Gets Home instead. Well, the idea was cartoons about celebrities, and we did that. But we also tapped into a very specific pool of celebrities, it turned out. Matsy has to watch The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, featuring young Koopalings who were still trying to figure out who they were and two very special guest stars who were not who they seemed. And Micah is watching Hammerman, which definitely has who it seemed to have as a celebrity star, but maybe didn't have as much as you'd think in the way of... I don't know... animation? Plus, Matsy is playing a video game in which you have to catch 'em all while wondering who caught all the frames per second and where they hid them, and also watched a thing on Netflix called Oddballs about some guy and an alligator and a toaster, while Micah watches a movie about someone who did parodies of songs by both our celebrity guests, on the same album! Weird!

Okay. And then there's another thing called Cipher, and I don't even know. It definitely has twins in it and takes place at least partially in New York, but beyond that, your guess is as good as mine. Plus, Micah examines what Magic: the Gathering players can invest their hard-earned money in besides useful cards, and tells us about the film Persepolis, while Matsy gets ready for the scary season by reviewing the harrowing combination of Netflix, Nick Kroll, and puberty. Plus, Matsy watched Nintendo talk about Splatoon 3 and its questionable new idols, Disney's new thing about chibi-ized versions of Phineas and Luz, and a little bit of the horrors of Heavy Metal; and Micah watched more of Tales of Alethrion and some YouTubers. Here's an Easter one where the turtles have to go to a fairy tale dimension to save the city from the Shredder's secret, nationally broadcasted evil plans. Then Michelangelo is back for the ol' "everyone pretends to forget their friend's birthday so they can throw him a surprise party but the friend gets offended and leaves" deal. And then Krang's body gets reprogrammed to be like a video game, with results almost as disastrous as the TMNT NES game. Plus, Matsy indulges his curiosity about that last episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, watches more Yurei Deco, and skips garbage on Netflix, while Micah remembers Project A-Ko and indulges his curiosity about that last episode of Dungeons & Dragons. This is where the script says I'm supposed to say "cowabunga," but it's 2022 so no.

Plus, Matsy took a week to suffer through the one episode of the Battletoads cartoon that got made before someone (presumably) burned that whole animation studio down for their crimes, while Micah is here to report on tabletop RPG cartoon The Legend of Vox Machina, standing by with his own can of gasoline. AND it's the long-awaited conclusion of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! How can you afford to miss that?

Oh no! Our innocent idea to review both parts of two-part episodes has caused dissention! Micah can't stand Bob's Burgers' crisis over whether to sell or not sell Wonder Wharf, while Matsy thinks it's one of the better episodes of an okay series. Fortunately, we can find common ground with The Transformers, though maybe Megatron's jealousy over the Autobots' ability to turn into cars while Decepticons can only be stupid planes is a bit dubious. Plus, Micah heads down the home stretch of My Little Pony, and we are divided once again on which adult cartoon about anthropomorphic animals' depression is better: BoJack Horseman, or Tuca & Bertie. Or Bertie & Tuca.

And then there's Lost in Oz, which is a surprisingly good cyberpunk take on The Wizard of Oz? Man, cloaking technology is the best thing that could have happened to an Ozian lion. Plus, Micah describes his hopes and dreams and fursuiters and Fluttershy, while Matsy checks in on an Australian cartoon in which a fursuiter takes it too far. The first one is about a fox who makes friends with crows and inmates as he tries to find a better life at a fox fur farm. Then Foghorn Leghorn tries to make a friend with benefits - the main benefit being a decent home - but runs afoul (a-fowl) of a foundling chicken hawk. Third, two guys are stuck with each other thanks to a torn treasure map, and form a friendship for the ages in search of their reward. And finally, Droopy enlists his brother to help around the house, which plays havoc with his friend Spike. Plus, Matsy learns way too much about the lore of VTubers, while Micah keeps on catching up with My Little Pony, Kid Cosmic, and Don Hertzfeldt. And that's what's biting me.

Happy Father's Day once again! And once again we dive into the Goof Troop extended universe with the straight-to-video finale, An Extremely Goofy Movie. For the Tex part of our program, we'll watch the great baritone Poochini get harassed by Mysto the magician as he tries to sing an opera song, and we'll see what people in 1949 thought their house would be like in 2050, when humanity has finally figured out how to deal with the mother-in-law. Then we shift to the Chuck part of the show, where Bugs Bunny tangles with knights, dragons and sorcerers, and where a depressed Martian figures that 1960's Earth must be the happiest place in the universe, if only it wasn't beset by monsters. Plus, Matsy will eulogize Squidbillies, and Micah will review numerous movies. And as a special bonus, we look at the climax of Hilda, namely the movie Hilda and the Mountain King. The premise is so absurd that of course it takes them around the world, and sees them caught up in international espionage. Micah also talks about animation cels, which is pretty cool.

This week, us crazy Canadians are celebrating Thanksgiving in October with cartoons about Thanksgiving ghosts! Then Pac-Man sleeps so long that ghosts take over the Pac-world, before flashing back to when Pac-people took over the ghosts' world. And if that's not enough ghosts for ya, we'll also talk about Disney's spooky new series The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the latest evolution of My Little Pony. That last one isn't really about ghosts. Sorry.

Matsy's also watching The Harper House, which is the latest cartoon from the guy who made Baby Cakes on YouTube and China, Il., and Micah's also subjecting himself to more Popee the Performer because he's crazy, and more Star vs. the Forces of Evil because he has good taste in cartoons. It's weird how somehow our separate ideas come together in a theme. This time, we're looking at how animation progressed from theatrical shorts to YouTube cartoons that anyone can make. First, Micah is traumatized by one of the first computer animated cartoons and its disturbing look at gluttony. Then Matsy is traumatized by an old Looney Tunes feature where a little boy daydreams about murdering numbers, Indians, and a shark. But we can cool down after that with some relaxing user-generated content from Homestar Runner and ToonCee. Plus, Micah wraps up Twelve Forever, and Matsy wraps up Steven Universe. Remember to turn off the internet when you're done!

We'll also catch up with Marvel's What If...? and JoJo's bizarre placebo, we'll see how Micah being anchored to Centaurworld via the not-cartoon horse turned out, and we'll look at what they've done to Yogi Bear and Auggie Doggy in the genderswapped haven of Jellystone! Believe it or not, toy companies once commissioned cartoons to sell their products. I know, right? So this week, we're looking at two cartoons made to whet young boys' appetites for TOYS. Transformers: The Headmasters shows how you can make your Transformers more or less powerful by giving them head transplants, while also directing your attention to little battling beasts with the power of water, wood and fire. Meanwhile, Mighty Max takes the previously female concept of putting a playset in a compact and reimagines it for men, by giving it a story about a kid who can make portals with his baseball cap. Plus, Matsy raves about his new favorite cartoon about centaurs and their world, while Micah reflects on the worst cartoon theme songs. We'll also investigate Netflix's upcoming adaptations of Cuphead and Masters of the Universe, and take a real dive into the video game world with some chat about Tekken (by way of Super Smash Bros.) and Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Sadly, we didn't get around to discussing what the best Powerline album is. It's probably the one with that song.
