Cross Encounters, hosted by Tony Miano, is a live, fast-paced, and informative show about theology, evangelism, and current events.
Join Chris and Rich this week as they discuss the core doctrine of the Christian faith: the Gospel! The message of the Gospel is vital in the life of the believer. It is what brings us to new life, it is what strengthens us in our daily walk, it is the promise of eternal glory. It is the message that each and every believer is commanded to share with those dead in trespasses and sins. It is the only hope we have in a dark and sin filled world. Chris and Rich will discuss just what the gospel is, and what it is not. The gospel is not a "fill pews quick" scheme. It is not a church growth methodology. It is a life saving message for those on the road to Hell. And while not all who hear it will receive it, it is our duty as followers of Christ to proclaim it. Make sure to tune and share the message with others. This is one show you should not miss!
Spiritual Principles for Life and Prophetic Evangelism
"And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will" (2 Timothy 2:24-26).
The above passage of Scripture includes a series of imperative, governing principles for life on and off "the box." Richard, and Chris will discuss what they are and how important they are today, especially in a world driven by social media and other forms of impersonal, personal communication.
The May 2015 edition of Charisma Magazine features an article on "Prophetic Evangelism." Chris and Rich will discuss this un-biblical form of evangelism and the potential consequences of the unsaved, the world and the true body of Christ.

A 90-minute episode
On this edition of Cross Encounters Radio.....
Tony travelled to Butler, PA (30-40 minutes north of Pittsburgh), with his three younger sisters. Butler is where Tony's generation of Miano children were born. Tony will share some deeply personal details about the trip, which was the first time in more than 40 years Tony and his sisters have returned together to Butler. Tony learned, and he saw firsthand, that it is not too late to reboot family relationships.
The above passage of Scripture includes a series of imperative, governing principles for life on and off "the box." Tony, Richard, and Chris will discuss what they are and how important they are today, especially in a world driven by social media and other forms of impersonal, personal communication.
Chris interviews Andrew Rappaport of Striving For Eternity Ministries about his new book, "What They Believe." Andrew shares why it is important why we need to understand what other religions believe and how it effects our ability to share the gospel with their adherents. Andrew's new book details what various religions believe about their God, Jesus, their own holy texts, sin and salvation. Knowing these details will help you as you share the gospel on the streets. Also, Rich and Chris will discuss counting the cost of being a follower of Christ. As a pluralistic culture races to accept various other world religions, it continues marginalize Christianity. Followers of Christ will find themselves continually in the crosshairs of a culture that hates and rejects Christ as Lord and Savior. Are Christians prepared for what is ahead? All this and Chris has a whale of a tale.
Episode: 20150411
On this edition of Cross Encounters Radio.....
Recently Tony preached two sermons related to open-air preaching and preachers, at the Milton Herald Society: "A Defense for the Public Proclamation of the Gospel" and "Have You Been Sent?" Both Chris and Rich have some questions for Tony. Has Tony gone too far? Are his expectations for all open-air preachers to be qualified, called, and sent by the local church unreasonable? Are they impractical? We will take your calls.
There has been a major development with the Church of Wells. Catherine Grove who, for two years, was all but hidden from her family by church leadership (the church's leadership would insist it was completely voluntary on Catherine's part), has left the quasi-church and returned to her family.

More to Come.....
In this episode:
Tony will be joined by guests Pastor Geoff Kirkland (Christ Fellowship Bible Church, St. Louis) and Evangelist Robert Gray (Cross Country Evangelism). The conversation will focus on the trios recent open-air preaching efforts on the campuses of St. Louis Community College--Meramec and Southern Illinois University--Edwardsville.
Tragically, on both campuses the men ran into campus representatives of CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). Both of the "campus leaders" served as examples of just how far the once-evangelistic campus ministry has fallen, from its founding by Evangelist Bill Bright. Now home with the Lord, Bright would not recognize the ministry he founded to reach college students with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Today, CRU is more a representative of American Evangelicalism than it is the Body of Christ.
On today's program, you will hear the audio of a conversation with one of the "campus leaders."
Also on the program: Tony, Rich, and Chris will answer the question from a student at Kansas State University. What do you do when the perverted pelagian, Jed Smock, comes to your campus to "preach?"
Montana Pastor, Gene Clyatt (aka Shinar Squirrel) joins Chris and Rich to discuss his recent article on a wedding chapel refusing to perform gay weddings. Gene explains his thoughts on the government's efforts to dictate to private industry what it can and cannot do, as well as what the theological implications are. Chris and Rich will carry over last week's topics on the proper behavior of Christians on social media, and our propensity to fear prayer when our life and circumstances have taken a sinful path. We'll also talk about the use of gospel tracts in evangelism and some ideas for the upcoming Halloween season. This and a quick update to the Houston subpoenas will make for an informative show!

They will discuss Paul's new position at the museum, presuppositional apologetics and the proper use of evidence in evangelism and apologetics. Additionally, the mayor of Houston, TX has made an unprecedented move in her effort to subpoena the sermons of local area pastors who opposed the institution of the recent HERO ordinace, which would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa. The mayor is seeking evidence that the pastors have preached against the ordiance from the pulpit. Chris and Rich will discuss the implications of this action and what Christians should expect for the future. These topics as well as Christians fear to sometimes pray, and our propensity to argue on social media will make for an interesting episode! Tell your friends and tune in!

Matt Slick, founder of the Christian Apologetic and Research Ministry (CARM), will discuss his article, Questions for Muslims. The 18 questions delineated in Matt's article can serve as both the catalyst and guide for fruitful and challenging conversations with your Muslim neighbors--conversations that should naturally lead to gospel proclamation.
Hear Tony's recent conversation with Gordon, as student at California State University Northridge (CSUN). Gordon initiated the conversation by boasting about his wickedness and hatred for unborn children. He walked away having had his mouth closed after simply being challenged to support his godless worldview.
Pastor Jeff Vanderstelt wrote an article, 12 Simple Ways To Be On Mission This Halloween, last year in which he successfully articulates how to be missional without being evangelistic, during the Halloween season. The article serves as yet another example of how the traditions and musings of men carry more authority in American Evangelicalism than the Word of God.

Jesus Christ is the most famous man in human history, but exactly who was He? Some say a fable; others think just one option among many good teachers, or even a nice guy who taught morals. Do any of these descriptions capture the totality of who He was? Jesus Unmasked goes directly to the world’s greatest expert on Jesus Christ, Jesus Himself:
Who Jesus said He was and why He said it the way He did
What historical accounts and Biblical details reveal versus what we assume
Why 4000 years of history, prophecy and chronology force every human being to render their verdict about this one man.
When you encounter Jesus Unmasked, you will not be ambivalent. Jesus gives us clarity and insight into the nature of God. Interact with what Jesus taught about Himself and draw your own conclusions to the world’s most important question: “Who is the real Jesus?”

The conversation will also include testimonies of their own experiences in dealing with riotous situations.

We will discuss the roots of the Hebrew Roots Movement and the movement's strengths and weaknesses. We will also discuss Chris' debate with Jim Staley, of Passion for Truth Ministries. Tony's guest for this edition of Cross Encounters Radio will be Kevin St. John, founder of Calgary Peacemakers. Tony and Kevin will discuss the recent Calgary Stampede Outreach. Part of the conversation will focus on an incident that took place on evening in dowtown Calgary, when a very angry heckler attacked and assaulted Tony. Christians are split about the incident.
Did Tony provoke the confrontation?
Should Tony have simply let the heckler walk away?
Was Tony and Kevin right in deciding not to call the police?
Does the fact that Tony's confrontation with the heckler drew a good-sized crowd who then heard the gospel when the attacker ran away have any bearing on whether or not Tony should have engaged the heckler the way he did?
Are Christians using the incident as an excuse to justify unbiblical forms of evangelism and/or not being involved in evangelism at all?
You will hear audio of the entire confrontation with the heckler, the attack, and the gospel that was preached after Tony got off the ground.
Tonight we interview Jimmy Coates of CARM regarding his recent review of "When Heaven Invades Earth," by Bill Johnson. Chris and Rich will also disucss Tony's recent article "Living the Evangelistic Life." Tune in and learn to never say "I just..." when it comes to evangelism again.
Recently, the World Vision organization announced they would hire people living in same sex marriage relationships. However, they immediately reversed that decision and issued an apology to those who support them. Is this a genuine act of repentance? How should Christians now deal with the organization? We will discuss this matter. Also, a recent pro-abortion display at the University of Michigan claims that the murder of children is actually a "life-sustaining act." Should Christians allow their children to attend schools where such blasphemous acts are committed? What options do we have? These topics and a discussion on how and why should should be involved in the blogging world.
The University of Michigan is sponsoring an exhibit that promotes abortion as a "life-sustaining act." Tony and the team will talk about it........and they will try not to shout.
In a span of two days, well known children's ministry World Vision went from having a biblical understanding of marriage, to endorsing same-sex marriage, to saying they believe the Bible is true. Tony and the team will talk about whether or not World Vision should have the trust of Christian people and their money.
Why do Christians seem to struggle with discerning "discernment bloggers?" Some discernment bloggers are very good. Some are lost and bound for hell. And some Christians have a hard time telling them apart.
Episode #85
He's B-a-a-ack: Tony is back on the program after a two-week preaching tour with Chris Sippley of JeremiahCry Ministries. Tony will talk about the tour, including: his time at the Shepherds' Conference; his run-ins with Jed Smock; meeting the man he thinks is the best open-air preacher he has ever seen; ministering on three major university campuses. Tony will share some audio from the tour.
Raising the Dead: Tony and team will discuss the latest in the ridiculous outpourings of the spirits of the age, coming out of Bethel Church, in Redding, CA. There is actually a group that boasts of raising 11 people from the dead. They are now advertising their services. They will come to the morgue, mortuary, or gravesite to attempt to raise your recently departed from the dead.
Is Libertarianism Christian?: Chris Hohnholz will lead an interesting discussion regarding Libertarianism. Many Christians are moving toward Libertarianism as their preferred political and socially philosophical construct. Is Libertarianism Christian?
And Tony will be taking your calls and questions from the chat room.
Pelagian heretic and "evangelist" Jed Smock came to UCLA to proclaim his false gospel to the students. Tony was there and openly rebuked his false teachings. We'll discuss who Jed is, what is pelagianism, and what it means to Christians in the mission field. Chris and Rich will also talk about growing weary while doing good. It is far too easy, and often too common, for Christians who preach the biblical gospel to grow weary. Many oppositions, from post-modern pagans to resistance from fellow Christians, can drive the evangelist to the breaking point. How does one combat this spiritual fatigue? These topics and a discussion on the "Son of God" movie currently in theaters should make for an interesting show. Join us this week.
Cecile Richards, president of Planned Abortion-hood, believes life begins……wait for it…..at delivery. We'll discuss why she does not believe this is relevant to the abortion issue, and why she is absolutely wrong. We'll also talk about the snake handling preacher who was killed by venomous snake. His son vows to follow in his father’s footsteps and take the helm of the church. Why does this matter to Christians today? This and other issues, as well as your questions.
Latifah Phillips, lead singer for PAge CXVI, will join Tony to talks about the group's soon-to-be-released album, "Lent to Maundy Thursday." Hear songs from the album, here, first!
Tony and his guest, Jimmy Coates, will discuss Jimmy's recent detailed review of Kris Vallotton's book, "Fashioned to Reign." Kris Vallotton once again shows that he and Bethel Church in Redding, CA, should be avoided. False teaching abounds in Vallotton's latest literary offering.
Tony is joined by Pastors Jon Speed and Andrew Rappaport, Edwin Lo, Donna Hebert, and Ken Cook. The topic of this two-hour, roundtable discussion will be The Church of Wells.
The questions Tony and his guests will try to answer: Is The Church of Wells a cult? If so, is it a theological cult, a sociological cult, or a combination of the two? Does this group have the potential to become another Branch Davidians?
For more information regarding the Church of Wells, please read this important article from the Christian Apologetic & Research Ministry (CARM).

Join Rich and Chris as they interview John Barros about sharing the gospel with those who understand the law most, criminals incarcerated in prisons. Also, John will share his thoughts on abortion ministry and the recently released documentary from Crown RIghts, "Babies are Murdered Here.
Christians often find themselves walking a fine line between legalism and antinomianism, between proving they are Christians through their works and acting as though their sins shoud never be an indicator that they may not be saved. Such a walk can result in frustration and spirtual exhaustion unless one rightly understands the gospel. Christians never outgrow their need for the gospel. Rich and Chris will take time to line out how Christians should rightly understand their sins, their need for the gospel and what sanctification looks like in the life of the believer.
It has been a hectic week for Cross Encounters Ministries as Tony was once arrested in the UK. This time, he was arrested in Scotland during the Love Scotland Outreach with Pastor Josh Williamson. Tony will join Chris and Rich as he discusses his arrest and what this means for him in the future.
Rich and Chris will tackle a all too present in American Evangelicalism, the issue of Christian Celebrities. Many preachers and teachers have been elevated to a celebrity status in which it is taboo to question anything they say and do. How should the biblically thinking Christian approach this problem? Also we will play audios of Tony's last open air sermon before his trip to Norway and a preacher profile recently posted on the internet. This and questions recently submitted by our faithful listeners!
