"Transgender" is commonly invoked as an identity, but this week we're asking if "transgender" is better understood as something that points to experience. This opens up the term to a number of people who don't necessarily identify as transgender, and it's politically useful at a time when trans rights are under attack. But it makes the philosophy tricky.
