This session of the “As we breathe…” series looks at kindness. Kindness is recognized as one of the core characteristics of Jewish theology and ethics. One of the favorite pictures of this word is, “to incline oneself towards.” We will learn that kindness is does not seek to protect one’s self, is directly linked to a heart of gratitude, is linked to forgiveness and a tender heart, is to be given even to those who don’t show kindness to us, is to be preferred to arguing, and it takes effort. Come listen and hear how to actually make the effort to be kind so that “As we breathe, we are more kind.”
This session of the “As we breathe…” series looks at patience. We often share that patience is a dangerous thing to pray for because the moment we do, we will encounter circumstances that will test our patience. There is good reason for that though. Patience is something that is only developed by being in situations that require more patience than we currently have. We will learn that patience is a matter of perspective, is a growth process inseparable from the rest of the fruit, is evidence of our calling, is a choice, and is key to us finishing the race well. Come listen and hear how to actually make the choice to be patient so that “As we breathe, we are more patient.”
As we breathe is a series focused on walking out the love Paul described to us in 1 Corinthians 13. Often read at weddings, it is there that the concept of love is reinfirced as a verb and not just a feeling. Join us as we not only introduce the series but also share how God's love is realized in our own lives.
