On our final day of focusing on dealing with anxiety for our families, we will closewith several verses from Psalms that encourage us about God’s care andprovision. These can also be turned into great prayers.
Psalm 34:4-7 in The Message …
God met me more than halfway, he freed me from my anxious fears. Look at him; givehim your warmest smile. Never hide your feelings from him. When I wasdesperate, I called out, and God got me out of a tight spot. God’s angel setsup a circle of protection around us while we pray.
Now, moving down to verses 17-19 …
Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you. If your heart isbroken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll helpyou catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is thereevery time.
Such great words of encouragement to fight our anxiety and fear. Let’s keep going inPsalm 91 …
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—herescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His hugeoutstretched arms protect you under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fendoff all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows inthe day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that eruptsat high noon. … Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very ownhome, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He orderedhis angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you;their job is to keep you from falling. …“If you’ll hold on to me for dearlife,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best ofcare if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be atyour side in bad times.”
Focus your attention on one area that you are struggling with anxiety, can you nameit our loud?
What do you think God thinks about that anxiety?
God loves you as His child, How do you feel when your child is carrying aroundanxiety?
As any loving parent would, God our Father wants to lift that burden of worry fromyou. You were never meant to carry it. Will you give him the worry, the anxietyabout the outcome of a situation and just keep your eyes focused on stayingclose to Him?
Let’s agree to try turning worries into prayers, fear into faith.
Let’s pray together: “Heavenly Father, I believe I have a better and bigger pictureof You after this week. You can and want to take care of me and my kids. Youwant me to be Your sheep and not a beast of burden. Help me to cast my cares onYou. Help me to teach my kids to do the same. As above, so below.”
