It's been more than a year since the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse. He was killed in his home where he was with his wife and their two children. Records show that he made several phone calls to top security officials while a squad of former Colombian soldiers ran through the house firing their guns. Outside neighbors heard two men with American accents through a megaphone saying: “This is a operation. DEA.” And at 1:46 am Moïse made one last call asking to save his life… The call dropped. He was then held at gunpoint and shot point blank.

Only five weeks later a 7 point 2 magnitude earthquake killed more than two thousand people and at least nineteen thousand Haitians have been displaced. Amidst the violence and political chaos, is a deadly cholera outbreak and a worsening famine.

We hear from Jacqueline Charles, a Caribbean correspondent for The Miami Herald, about the turmoil in Haiti.
