Baseball season is underway, but this spring, America’s pastime will look a little different. Ahead of opening day, the MLB introduced a batch of rules to keep games shorter and more action-packed, reflecting the era of analytics and the growing trend of demanding a more streamlined, entertaining game. 

And changes are coming on and off the diamond. In the background of opening day, the MLB and minor leaguers struck a deal for a collective bargaining agreement, which would form the first-ever union for non-major leaguers.
