Week Four: Warrior (July 12th)

Title: We need to be Healed

Bible: 1 Corinthians 16:14 – 14, 2 Samuel 14:24, Matthew 3:16 - 17

One Point (Big Idea): “A Healed Warrior is an able Warrior”

1 Corinthians 16:13–14 (NLT) 13 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. 14 And do everything with love.

“A Healed Warrior is an able Warrior”

And the way we to see this is by looking at two stories both of them having both a father and a son. One is a heartbreaking story the other is a heart healing story.

2 Samuel 14:24 (NLT) 24 But the king gave this order: “Absalom may go to his own house, but he must never come into my presence.” So, Absalom did not see the king.

2 Samuel 18:33 (NLT) 33 The king was overcome with emotion. He went up to the room over the gateway and burst into tears. And as he went, he cried, “O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you! O Absalom, my son, my son.”

Matthew 3:16-17 (NLT) 16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”

God Affirms his Warriors

Romans 8:15-17 (NLT) 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

God Loves his Warriors

John 3:16 (NLT) 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

God Forgives his Warriors

1 John 2:12 (NLT) 12 I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.

Affirm:

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT) 11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

Love:

John 13:34 (NLT) 34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.

Forgive:

Colossians 3:13 (NLT) 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Ephesians 4:32 (NLT) 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
