The disciples are still in a lock-down, one week after Jesus resurrection. They just don't know what to do about his resurrection. They are still afraid. The image of his suffering and death is still fresh in their mind. They are hiding from the world around them for fear of facing the same fate as Jesus. That's why they are staying at home.
