The Lord let the children of Israel to Egypt to protect them from the famine that was coming to their land. Earlier on, God had sent Joseph to Egypt to prepare for the rescue plan. The Lord knew beforehand what was going to happen and had revealed His intentions to Joseph because He was going to use him in His plan. Suffice to say that the children of Israel were in Egypt because the Lord wanted them to be there -Genesis 15-12-15-.--The children of Israel may have forgotten God's promises and focused on achieving the Egyptian dream. But as they increased in number, the Egyptians were concerned. Joseph was long dead and forgotten. Only his bones remained in a coffin waiting for a return to the land of promise. Another Pharaoh arose, and mistreated God's people in a way that made them remember God's promises. So, they cried to God for help and the Lord heard their cry and saw their suffering, He appeared to Moses, revealing His rescue plan for His people.
