Across Frontlines

Founded by Kalaya'an Mendoza and Adam Ray Cross, Across Frontlines partners with frontline communities, individuals, and organizations around the world to facilitate opportunities for responsible exchange that lead to greater and more equitable impact. We elevate and share the lessons we have learned from frontline communities by offering trainings, strategies and consultations that focus on safety and security, fostering equity, building solidarity, leadership development, organizational capacity, grassroots organizing and leadership.

Across Frontline’s tagline, “Learning With, not Teaching Over”, is inspired by lessons learned from partnerships with frontline communities based in Ecuador, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Peru, Taiwan, and Vietnam along with numerous U.S. partners.

Our methodology is based in the principles of emergent design and popular education. We co-create and tailor each learning space to the needs, specifications and goals of the participants. Through immersive techniques, we create safety and trust to uplift the knowledge in the group and adapt trainings and consultations in real time.

In essence, we model the approach that the learner must be the co-creator of the knowledge. This model defines how we co-build training content with communities, how we cultivate our learning culture and how we apply our facilitative style.

Human rights defenders have taught us the profound lesson that solidarity means: power with, not power over. We take that deeply to heart and at Across Frontlines.
