Maybe Nets Time
Two guys - both bespectacled, both of varying but equally unremarkable heights and wingspans, both in no way authorities on the game of basketball - have come together to discuss their shared love, a team that has gone from the losing-est team in the NBA to, well, kind of ok, the Brooklyn Nets.
We prognosticate about what the 2025-26 Brooklyn Nets season will look like, both offering up our sincerest prayers that Ben Saraf doesn’t prove to be the best of the Flatbush Five.
We peel back the mysteries of all the over/under win totals across the NBA. This is done not through any particular insights either of us has, but instead through the sheer drudgery of aggregating the takes of the NBA’s smartest (?) pundits and analysts. It is not a pretty or enjoyable process, but the results reveal the truth about what will happen in the 2025-26 season (maybe).
Imagine Sean Marks doesn't just have 4 first round picks but the first 27 picks. And then listen to us talking about that for nearly two hours.
Please share this episode with your friends who have no interest in either the Nets or sports in general. I think they'll "get" why you do.
Sean Marks took over one of the worst franchises in sports. Within a few years, he orchestrated the “clean sweep” and was heralded as one of the greatest GMs in basketball. When the players involved in that clean sweep then tried to get Marks fired a mere 2 years later, he suddenly became a complete joke, an obvious disaster, and the sole reason why the Nets suck. In all this hyperbole, one question is consistently obscured: is Sean Marks actually a good GM?
In this episode we try to answer that question by taking a long, hard look at the man’s record, from the Jeremy Lin signing to the Noah Clowney draft pick. We leave no stone unturned.

When KD, Harden, and Kyrie were on the Nets, I blamed Kyrie for all their woes. Now that the three have abandoned BK, I find myself rooting for Kyrie as I revel in the disappointments of KD and Harden. My question for you, Nets Nation, is: why?

Bill Simmons recently claimed the Nets were the #1 franchise he wouldn't want to be. We argue (convincingly) that the mediocre, expectation-less Nets are in a far better spot than the Celtics are (since they are obviously going to flame out again in the playoffs, leading to heartbreak, recriminations, and real fan suffering all around).

As Nets fans now know, the slightest imperfection, the faintest blemish, even a whiff of human frailty will send this man running for the hills. So enjoy him now — soak up every second of this glorious honeymoon phase — for it will all come crashing down soon enough.
