In this two part series, we’ll be looking at Isaiah 9:6-7 at the promised king and his reign. This week we’ll be looking at the promised king himself, focusing on how Isaiah describes him in verse 6. There is no doubt that this coming king will be a welcomed contrast from the current inept ones that Israel was experiencing. The thing that we often don’t realize is that we also need this king. We like to think of ourselves as autonomous and yet this has just created the most anxious people group in the world. The reality is, we need a king and our problem is that we keep picking the wrong ones. We’ll land the plane by looking at why Jesus is the promised (and needed) king and how that confronts our anxiety.
