Alison joins the show to share how she came to her passion and has served countless around the world impacted by disasters—from ground zero during 911 and Syrian, Afghan, Venezuelan and Ukraine refugee crises to the 2004 Asian tsunami, the front lines of the Ukraine war and the latest August, 2023 Maui bushfires. In 2001 she founded Third Wave Volunteers, which deploys 30,000 volunteers, and inspires everyone to action with the message of “everyone is needed.” Among many honors, Aliso has won the Governor’s Hurricane Service Agency award, Hope Prize at TEDX Talk, Dr. Martin Luther King humanitarian award, and Rethink Energy Florida award and was selected as the Woman of Peace in 2019. During the covid pandemic in 2020, she and her all-women volunteer rescue teams, delivered over 2 million N95 masks across America to 50 states, including 1000’s of disadvantaged communities, nursing homes, prisons, the Navajo and other tribal nations, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Peru, Haiti and Australia. In 2022, Alison received “The Presidential Lifetime Service Award”, the highest US civilian award from President Biden. she believes that the secret to happiness is service to others.
