Big Idea:

Leadership growth is a lifelong journey.

QUESTION: How does a person gain experience?

• ANSWER: Through mentoring and opportunity.

1. In the church, there are two leadership roles:

a. Elder

b. Deacon

1. Both must exhibit these qualities:

• Good reputation

• Not overindulgent

• Generous

• Well-behaved

• Mentally and emotionally stable

• Sexually above reproach

• Manage family well

• Hospitable

• Know the Bible

• Gentle, patient, and peace-loving

• Not a new Christian

1. Same qualities; different functions.

• Romans 12:4-13

• Acts 6:1-4

1. Each must be tested before appointment.
