1. Find a time and a spot
- the thoughts and attitude that get put in your mind tend to stick with you throughout your day when you do it in the morning.
2. Leave the black hole of your attention (your phone) in a different room
3. Pray “outside your head” (ie…pray out loud or on paper)
- The advantage…see how God worked and answered prayers you forgot you ever prayed.
4. Use the acronym P.R.A.Y. and use the language of the Psalms for praise and repentance
- Psalm 145: The greatness of God
- Psalm 103: The work of God
- Psalm 63: A desire for God
- Psalm 51: Turning back toward God
5. Pray big. Pray small. Pray specific. Pray Honest
- · BIG: Nothing so big God can’t do. Mark 5:35-36.
- · SMALL: Nothing so small God doesn’t care (1 Peter 5:7)
- · SPECIFIC: Nothing so lame as prayers so vague you’d never even know God answered.
- · HONEST: Nothing so superficial as praying with my mouth and not my heart. Psalm 44:23-26
6. Do it when you don’t feel like it
- In all of life, growth usually doesn’t happen until you keep going even when you want to quit.
