The earliest forms of acting started out in Athens, Greece with choirs of people singing hymns called dithyrambs to the god Dionysus. Now, actual acting wasn’t going on during these processions. But, as the songs continued to evolve, choir members would wear costumes and masks with certain people assigned key roles, leading to what would soon be known as acting.
