In today's episode of the Real Talk Recovery podcast, Brannon and Tyler discuss the idea that addiction is an attempt to find Jesus Christ. In this episode, you will learn: 1. Can people find God through addiction? 2. What is the role of trauma in spiritual discovery? 3. How do our beliefs about God affect our ability to feel His love? "It's the story that we put in there that disconnects. It's the story that we begin to believe and find evidence for that pulls us away from the connection to the love of God." I was always chasing something, but I never knew what it was. I would go fishing with my dad and I loved it. I loved being in nature and feeling close to him. But even from a young age, I wasn't quite sure if I was fully loved or if I was good enough. I always had this underlying feeling that I needed to prove myself somehow. As I got older, I started to believe that I would never be perfect enough for God to love me and that I needed to find evidence to prove that God didn't exist or that He didn't love me. I would act out and do things that I knew were wrong and then use that as proof that I was unworthy of God's love. But in reality, all that was doing was pulling me further away In this episode, you will learn the following: 1. Can people find God through addiction? 2. What is the role of trauma in spiritual discovery? 3. How do our beliefs about God affect our ability to feel His love?
