Discerning the Plight of Man - Ch 8: Moral Inability - Pt. 2 | The Impotence of Man's Mind and Heart
Through God’s gracious providence, the human race has gained great intellectual achievements in science, technology, medicine, and so forth. Nevertheless, fallen man’s knowledge of God is nothing more than a twisted maze of heresy and futile thinking. This ignorance is not the result of a “hidden God,” but of a “hiding man.” God has clearly revealed Himself to men through creation, His sovereign works in history, the Scriptures, and finally through His incarnate Son. Man, being spiritually dead and morally corrupt, has responded to this revelation by closing his eyes and covering his ears.
Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath. He became our rest when He did all the work necessary for our salvation.
"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV
No matter how much knowledge and achievements we gain in this world (even as faithful Christians), only three things remain in the end: faith, hope and love. Above all our intentions and motivations, love is the greatest and love bears the most in our pursuit of glorifying God in this world.

The same is true with God. You need to transfer your trust from yourself to Jesus. Repent and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's all it takes for you to be saved and to be renewed and transformed. The goodness that will, later on, happen in your life is no longer based on your standard but on the high standard of God.

Storms in life will come. They are even promised to us. How are you going to respond to each of these storms?
What a friend we have in Jesus Christ. The only friend that will never leave us nor forsake us.
God bought us with an infinite prize. The God-man, Jesus Christ, the Great Shepherd, who willingly gave his life for his sheep.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give the desires of your heart. We thought we already know what this means. We focus on the material benefits not realizing that God must be the greatest desire that we should be looking for.

We have a loving God that is all-powerful. How can these truths fuel our individual obedience to his commands and demands like Self-control?
May we all find that ‘resting place’ in God alone by meditating upon His word every single day.
We are easily led by these emotional-based behaviors. The best example is many of us use foul language and reason it out as a way to express their selves. So we are challenged to rid of this evil behavior as it can hurt others without us knowing. As the saying goes, "Words cut deeper than the sword. "
Like in the Church, no one is more than the other. Although we have different functions, roles, and gifts, everyone is unique and has made their own devotion to the Lord.
We are in one commitment with God, and it has to be selfless, by putting others first before us.
When we are obeying God’s commandments, He is very pleased in us and when he is pleased with us, we will be rewarded according to the riches of His glory. May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with us all.
With fellow believers, we must remind each other of the sufficiency of God’s word to do his work for his purposes. If we are confident in the ability of the gospel to transform lives, we can boldly and indiscriminately proclaim this good news with sacrificial love to the lost in the hope that some will be saved.
Lord Jesus, you are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. we thank you for this message that you have given to us today and thank you for reminding us of your finished work at the cross. We recommit our lives to you and we surrender any aspect of our lives that we are still taking control of. We give you all the praises, glory, and most importantly we love you from the bottom of our hearts.
In the Old Testament, it was not said that only the Jews will be saved, rather, it was said that it will be through them that all the nations will be saved.
It is not about me. It is about Jesus who made me and reward me the gift even though I don't deserve. You bear fruits because of Jesus whom you put your faith into.
As Christians blessed with the privilege to be children and heirs of God, we are also called to suffer as Jesus Christ did that we may also be glorified with Him. It’s not that we should suffer literally the same shame of whipping and mocking He experienced, and die the same shameful death He had on the cross. But it means that we symbolically live and experience the life that Jesus had as He lived completely opposing to how the world wants us to live.
When we buy the ticket for the ship, we also avail the buffet that comes with it. What do we miss out in receiving the free gift of eternal life?
We were taught that food, water and clothes are our primary needs in life to survive. Every day we strive just to have these things. And sometimes we tend to work harder than ever and forget everything else just to get these things.
It's not that these are not important. God is telling us not to worry about these things not because He will make these magically appear in front of us but because He will give us the capability to meet our own needs.
It’s because there must be something wrong with our reception. We either lack faith and trust in Him, lack in obedience to Him, lack in focus on Him, lack in surrender to Him, and/or lack on our love for Him. Whatever it is that hinders our pipe, we have to be aware of it, and we need to surrender it.
If we fail to do these things, don’t worry, the time is coming and is now near that Jesus will be magnified to all.
Most Christians see that the way of overcoming the test is by fighting it back, but this is not the case of God. We will never win the test by our own self, actually it is God who will fight for us.
Change is never easy because it is always a decision to make. Real change takes place slowly.
So as I end this, ‘‘Why would God choose a bad person to bless?’ this I cannot answer. But one thing is for sure, God really wants to bless you, you have the choice to let go of what you have been holding unto for the longest time in your life and just know who God is and how much He wants you.
Whenever you feel discouraged, know for sure that God is in you and works in you as you navigate this life here on earth. We have Him by our side, we have Him always. He never leaves- it’s just you who leaves.
Strong winds, storms, they are given by God to test our Faith. How strong and founded our faith is, for if it’s built on solid rocks, not even the rain, strong winds and floods can shake us.
Each of us have encountered the grace of the Lord. The grace of the Lord is always present in our lives. many our called but only few are chosen. This emphasizes that the calling and the choosing of God is based on His grace.
This suffering will draw us loser to God and this suffering will keep us away from the destructive elements that is in this world, such as temptations and sins. Let's rejoice in every suffering, in every pain, because God is coming near. That is the hope that we are looking forward to, that this are all temporary pain.
May we work for the Lord and not for human masters wherever we may be. What we are serving are not human masters, but Jesus Christ. May this be something to ponder on during those times when we lose faith and we grow weary in our work for God.
We should be more grateful when things like these happen. God is showing His glory in our waiting season, it only proves that our flesh is weak in the times of waiting for God’s will, and this is why we need Him in every season of our life. Because every time we get tired and impatient, we can find strength and grace in Him.
As Christians, we are to have the same perspective as Paul. We should see this pandemic not as chains of imprisonment but as an opportunity to share what Christ has done 2000 years ago when He died for the forgiveness of our sins and whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. It is easy to get distracted with various activities and be discouraged by many concerns. There are temptations as you scroll down your Facebook feed all day, watch Netflix all day, play online games all day, etc. There are even temptations to give up on life because of all that’s happening around us.

We serve the God that is the source of life and strength. And we should always come to Him not only when we are tired. We should always submit to His will because all things work together for good to those who love Him.
God is inviting us to have a relationship with Him. Sometimes, our communication seems to be a boring task because we don’t have a relationship with that person. It’s like having a friend that you are not close with. Sometimes, you think that it is hard to communicate with Him because you don’t have a relationship.
So, you can see that your identity—the question, "Who are you?"—leads directly to the question, "What are you here for?" Your identity leads to your destiny. You are chosen, pitied, possessed, and holy—all for a purpose—to minister as priests. And the heart of that ministry Peter describes for us very clearly.
"To allow Jesus to put His own yoke on us, it means giving Jesus control and letting Him direct our efforts. We will learn from Him for He is gentle and humble in heart. He will not add a burden on us, but He will give us rest for our soul."
Sometimes, we lose sight of God because we look at ourselves. But the most situations in life, if not all, that to win battles, to win through things, we don't need to look at ourselves, we need to focus on God. And to always make sure that we will hit on to things, we will face everything with God and from a faith perspective. So how are you today?
t is clear that He is inviting the disciples to be a part of His kingdom and to leave behind the principalities/authorities of this world to witness what His glory and to take part on the purpose of that kingdom. This invitation is also available to you who is listening to this devotion. This is good news for everyone of us.
He is the eternal truth; that no matter what we do, He still loves us (and disciplines us for our own good).
It's the saving truth that saves us from the penalty of our sins - if only we accept Him in our lives.
So there's a lot of promises, I have shortened this message very very much. There are 300 verse about the fear of the Lord. And many, many promises which I have not given you yet. So please, take your time in studying what 's the fear of the Lord and you will be tremendously blessed. It has blessed and reached my life so much.
"For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." (Galatians 3:26-29 ESV)
God has assured us that He will not let us be attacked with trials or temptations that are too overwhelming for us to handle. He will grant us grace to be overcomers.
In this present time, let us meet God in our brokenness and suffering, receive his healing power and forgiveness so that we may pursue holiness – while we eagerly wait for His return.
Did the law, which is good, cause my death? Of course not! Sin used what was good to bring about my condemnation to death. So we can see how terrible sin really is. It uses God’s good commands for its own evil purposes. (Romans 7:13)
If you are just like me who also undergoes the process of testing, let this be our encouragement: that this season will not last long and will surely come to pass, and that our God will reward us after this – with favors and graces that are more than what we ever asked or deserved. His grace alone indeed!. But until then, let’s faithfully endure until the end.
This is a reminder for all of us, that we should put our trust and hope in Christ alone not during this time of pandemic because we need His mercy and grace every day and not just in any particular circumstances.
We are never the main picture to begin with. In fact, we are only made relevant when God is the main picture because God, in all of His glory, loved us so much that He sent down Jesus to die on the cross for our sins; ins that we did when we thought that our lives are better controlled when we were at the helm but again, we are never the main picture. God is.
We have some similarities with their situation. Our world seemed to stop during the pandemic. Our day to day routines came to an end or has to be changed against our convenience. We are in a season where there are distortions in the way we see reality. We tend to magnify what is wrong than what we can actually do to solve them. We easily get discouraged when something is not going well. But the truth is there is something worse than that, and no matter how bad it goes, we are always covered in God's love.
We can always glorify God in every answer He gives us, whether it’s a YES, NEXT TIME, or a NO. In our life as followers of Christ, we have to focus our eyes on the PROVIDER and not on the PROVISION. If we focus ourselves on Jesus Christ, we will eventually realize that He is the GIVER, and at the same time, He is the GIFT. Having NO as an answer to our prayers, will not really matter if Jesus is all that matters for us.
In making decisions and fulfilling things for God, we need to have the right mindset first. Then we have to be watchful during the process. Finally, set our hope fully on the completion of our Christian race, our reunion with our Lovely Savior in His return.
As they study they begun to confess their sins and repent. They are reminded of God's faithfulness in their lives despite of their disobedience and begun to understand who their God really is, that comes from the understanding of their past failures and God's faithfulness all through out. In turn they worship their God and reaffirm their obedience to Him as His people.

Whatever chaos is in between, the important thing is: It is all from God and it is all for God.
We cannot just sleep and be the winner when we wake up. We have to strive. We have to be strengthened in God’s Word through our devotions and prayers.
It's our genuine actions that speak the truth of what our intentions are towards our brothers/sisters. Actions of love only speak louder than words when these actions are true to your love for others. After all, Jesus said in John 13:34, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
It doesn't matter what organizations or religions we belong (God will lead us to the truth, knowing that He and His words are truth, and therefore we will shun away whatever is contrary to the gospel of Christ).Being a Christian is not about the religion. It is all about Christ who saved us from sin and living a life like Him.
Sacrifice is usually branded by the pain and difficulty of surrendering something one values in order to have something else. How can you say you sacrificed something when you don’t have the somber feeling of doing it?
Despite these situations, we are still alive and breathing. We are free to worship Him and cling to the hope that Jesus alone is enough.
The Lord, our Shepherd, is more than enough for us. Whatever you're going through right now, the question is: "Do you need a Shepherd?"

As we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and experience His goodness, it will absolutely bear a fruit that will make reading and understanding His Word with less difficulty. In His overflowing grace, may we delight and put our hope and trust in Jesus.
God wants to have witnesses for Him: people who sees and experience Him to present or bear witness for the World. It's not easy to be one. It may be simple, but it carries a lot of responsibilities.
So as we go through our prayer time, may we learn to lay down every burdens, worries and anxieties that we have. May we be reminded to align our hearts to God’s heart. May we all desire what God desires and accept what God wanted to happen.
He wants you to trust Him that He is the Father in heaven who give good gifts to those who ask Him. He is not the father that you need to we wary of. God wants us to always come to Him, that we always seek Him.
At this time of uncertainty, at this time of pandemic, we always have to remember His word everyday, declare and claim His promises and be expectant and prepare our heart for God will surely fulfill His promises.
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4)
“When peace like a river attendeth my way; when sorrows like sea billows roll; whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, ‘It is well, it is well with my soul.’” These powerful words written in the midst of such pain are a reminder to us today that, even though we may be enduring great suffering and hardship, it is not the end of God’s plan for us.
The one thing I ask of the Lord, The thing I seek the most is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections and meditating in His temple. Psalms 27:4

If God did not give up on you, then why should you give up on yourself? If God did not give upon you then why should you give up on Him. Continue in Him. Continue walking in faith knowing that there's so much joy and satisfaction in Christ even more so when we have endured.
We may face a lot of sufferings in this world because of our faith, but let us always remind ourselves that Jesus had already overcome the world, and He promised to be with us always. Whatever we are going through right now in our pursuit of righteousness… there will always be another in the fire.

So, walking in the nature of Christ means trusting God. Being at peace in the midst of uncertainties and suffering for we know that we have a God that is in control. Basically, You will only have peace if you have Jesus Christ in your heart. You will only have peace if you put your trust to God.
Let's acknowledge and devote ourselves to God everyday of our life whatever we do. We need to strive for his Holy presence to be with us. And If God is with us, who could ever stop us. and if our God is with us then who can stand against us.

How many times should we forgive our brothers and sisters? Let us see what the Bible say about it.

The message is so wonderful: that we need to have a life that is Spirit-filled. We need to follow what the Holy Spirit is telling us to do because Jesus Christ lives in us and Jesus Christ has the power. It’s the same power that can conquer sin, we can live by the Spirit. It is the same power that helps us conquer. We can walk with Him with the right to go on our journey with God ,with the right mindset, and with peaceful life. It has the power to motivate us to come back again to our Lord and to continue our walk with God.

Storing up treasures in heaven requires genuine trust to God, and without our intimate relationship with Jesus, trust is impossible!
Praying and fasting is our fruit in our faith in Christ as we accept Him as our Lord and Saviour. And by the grace of God and through Christ we are now able to communicate God anywhere and anytime
Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil. (Matthew 5:37)
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. (Matthew 5:29 NIV)
"So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5:23-24
A land that is hopeless and worst, they think that they are just fine but a light has shined to reveal these broken condition of ours and Jesus teaches us in response to this reality to repent, turn from our old ways and to be transformed in his likeness so we, too, will also shine that light.
The one who is prepared to give up the good for the very best will discover the inner joy of Jesus that is reserved for those that can say from their heart: the life that I now live in the flesh is not mine to live but Christ - who lives in me.
Do you ever feel that God is far from you? Listen, read and see that God hears whenever you call out to Him and He is never too far.
If you want to abide in Jesus Christ, if you want to follow Him,you have to reject yourself and take up your cross and follow Jesus.
If you still have a lot of doubts about God, it’s time for you to surrender them to the Lord and let Him answer those things as you follow Him all throughout your life. Let Him speak to you through your life’s ups and downs.
We are already dead when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. This will make us realize that the things on earth is only temporary and we must strive for something what is eternal.
The Word of God is eternal life and apart from abiding in Him. It's either abiding in Him that brings life or death - eternal death.
It is better to give than to receive. Generosity confirms that we trust not in our ability to earn but in God's never ending grace. We don't earn things by giving but it solidify the hearts contentment toward a God who provides.

We are created in the image of God and we are called to reflect his glory. The bible shows us how we failed to be reflectors of that glory and how God works all through out history in redeeming a new people that abides in him.
We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Let us dig in deeper in this great truth. What does it mean to have a righteousness through faith?
Jesus is the fulfillment of everything that God had ever created. He is the fulfillment of our life; everything we’ve ever asked and wondered about life; He is the purpose for living.
Jesus is the fulfillment (the only fulfillment) for those who do not believe in Him, today. If He can turn the life of Saul to Paul, and use him in ways Paul would never expect, then I know He can also turn your's and those whom you are thinking right now. There is no other way a person lives in fulfillment aside from living in Christ!
“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).
The future that God pertains to is eternal life, and the hope that He is regarding to is Jesus Christ. His plans for us would lead us eternal life through Christ Jesus. Our prayers must be in accordance to the fulfillment of this, and surely God will listen.
A Christian’s life is a journey. A journey wherein, with the help of the Spirit, we can avoid the desires of the flesh. Desires which are not pleasing to God’s eyes and lead to sin. A journey wherein the Spirit transforms us from our old dead selves because of sin, to a new self whom Jesus lives in.

We are the living testimony of God’s transformation. Right understanding of God through His Word and through the indwelling of His Spirit enables us to realize that the things that you’re doing are no longer for your interest but God’s in order for others to enjoy what you’re enjoying right now- freedom from sin, joy and peace in Christ.
Flesh produces flesh but the Holy Spirit produces spirit. Every person alive has
experienced the natural birth. We’ve all been born of the flesh. The harsh reality is that
while we’re alive and moving around, the Bible gives us the harsh reality, we’re
spiritually dead. Just as aging affects the body, sin damages and infects the soul. But
the soul dies to the power of sin when its faith is placed upon Jesus Christ. That’s why
new birth is a necessity.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6 ESV)
As sons and daughters of God we are cry out to our Father. In this season do not let fear govern your heart but we are to listen and be reaffirmed in his words.
Living a Christian life includes hurdling life battles. As said in 1 Timothy 6:12, let us keep fighting the good fight of faith and take hold of the eternal life to which we were called.
Jesus fought our battles on the cross so we can cast our cares on him for he cares for us!
The righteousness that saves does not come from ourselves because we are so dead in our sins that we cannot even see Jesus as glorious and wonderful. It has to come from outside of us. Salvation has to come from the outside. Ephesians 2:8-9 is very clear on this, “by grace you have been saved through faith”. You and I did not create that faith. It was granted to us by God.
When we relate to our lives, try to imagine if there is a binoculars that you can use so that you can have focus in life. How is your personal focus in life? To where are your lenses directed? Are they clear? Or are they blurred. What year are we now? 2020, therefore let us have a 20-20 vision.
A closer look on "The Lord's Prayer". A rich prayer Jesus taught his disciples. A pattern for us believers on how to come to God in prayer.
For they are transplanted to the Lord ’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Psalms 92:13 NLT
The word of God has rooted deeply in the heart of Job. The Lord show what is really the most important thing that we should have: it is the Word of God. God blesses those who believes in His word and lives righteously. For sure, whatever Job has before will double. God will take away, but God will give more in return.
Focusing on the Lord is essential. And consecrating yourself to the Lord is vital. But we will never cross the river unless we take that step of faith. Our eyes and our hearts can be right on, but if we don't move our feet to meet the challenges, we will never progress in God's work. We must commit ourselves - our time, our energy, our money, our lives to what God is doing, or it won't happen.
Our faith settles in so deep that you will not settle for anything less other than standing for what God says is right and pleasing in His sight. What the Bible says is absolute is really absolute. Daniel and his friends’ faith in God is so strong not even the thought of being in the hands of their captors can scare them.
Would you still trust God even if he seems to be distant and doesn't hear your prayers?
And Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in the Lord ; my horn is exalted in the Lord . My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation. “There is none holy like the Lord : for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God. -1 Samuel 2:1-2
God’s goodness is not defined on how you see your situation. God is good all the time. Let's hear more of God's goodness in every situation that we are facing.
“ The love that is forced upon someone will crumble as a castle build in sand , but the love that is given by God will never perish but will be like a rock that can withstand any calamity.” As the wold gives us so many definition of love, let's see what the Bible tells us about real love.
Intimacy with the Lord is attainable when we know Him personally. Knowing who God is, we will be able to apprehend that even our troubles are experiences that we have with Him. If David had not had a personal relationship with God, He would not have intuited that He is the One who preserves their lives and kept their feet from slipping. If He had not had the right focus, He would have stuck his eyes in their afflictive situation, and would not see that God had brought them into a place of abundance. If He had not been matured enough, He would not have told the people to praise God and make their songs audible amidst their infirmities.
Humble ourselves before the Lord because He will let you experience who He really is. Let us be reminded again that true humility is in Christ who died for and saved us, and humility also comes from the people who admit that they are a sinner and in need of a savior who is Jesus Christ.
When God formed our identity, He made it permanent and unchangeable. He built it this way to allow us to walk in freedom and trust, realizing that even though we sin and constantly mess up, we are cherished, loved, useful and strong forever because His spirit is in us. We are secure in Him.
Remember whenever God answers our prayers, it is not out of our ‘feelings’… ‘Feeling ko galling kay Lord yun’, ‘feeling ko ito yung pinapagawa ni Lord’, ‘feeling ko siya na yung pinadala ni Lord’. No. The bible is not telling us that that is the way of God moving and conversing to us. He speaks through His Word (2Tim 3:16), He speaks through Jesus (Hebrews 1:1-2); and we should know how He talks to us because we are His sheep (John 10:27).
As we tackle this devotion we will understand, little by little, what it really means to have a new life in Christ. How important it is to have this kind of life with Him.
As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
One character of a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ is stillness. Being still is one of our "secret weapon" in winning victories. What does it really mean to be still?
Knowing God may be simple at the first glance. We can always say that we know God. We know that He is our Creator. We know that He is our provider. He is our healer. He is our peace. He is our Father and so on.
There is something built when we come to know God; relationship. As we spend more time with Him, He get to reveal more of who He is, giving us further reasons to place our trust in Him. Thus, there is something built as we become more intimate with Him; assurance. There is confidence in knowing Christ.
We really cannot obey someone we do not know. We cannot say yes to someone we do not know. We cannot follow someone we do not know. We do not spend time with someone we do not know. If so, then we are just fooling ourselves.
How do we respond to people who seems to be "enemies"? What does the Bible teach us about "loving our enemies"?
We really need to know & love God, so that we may learn from Him how we can truly love. God’s love is true love. After all, God is Love (1 John 4:16).
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:35)
There’s no better way of getting a good grasp of God’s discipline than staying humble and fully acknowledging God’s work in us.
"Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself." (Leviticus 19:18) Jesus made this commandment new by setting himself as the standard of loving.
The Bible is a book of hope. Starting from the very beginning of creation, the Bible gave us the picture of perfection, wholeness, and completeness.
When we think that God seems to forget, let us take time to evaluate; perhaps, it is us who forgot.
In our multiple attempts to seek and find fulfillment, Jesus—the word and life—freely gives everlasting life for those who humbly repent of all their sins and have fellowship with him through his blood. Hope is found in no one else, only in Jesus.

Everything our eyes can see will one day cease to exist. Nothing is permanent and certain. People tried to catch up life and control its change to the point that they were deceived by its own pleasures. They forget God and live the way they wanted it to be. But we praise God because as a child of God we received in Him the certain of truths. And it gives us hope to persevere, to be faithful and love the Lord more than anything else.
At the end of the life of one of the disciples, he wrote that "though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials". He go through a lot, but instead of feeling regret or shame, he described it as "filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy" in 1 Peter 1:8.

Our flesh is indeed weak but, we should let God's Spirit to take control of us. Peter and the apostles were cowards before, but when the Holy Spirit was poured unto them, they were changed radically.
