Nothing tangible was so sacred or so special that it wouldn’t be liquidated and given away whenever there was a need in the community. And what's most unbelievable about all this, is that they didn't do this just for the friends or family members they’d known their whole lives. They did this for complete strangers, for former enemies, or for people everyone else in society rejected. In a word, they gave to people who would have no chance of ever giving back the kind of gift they had been given.
