Title: Favorite/Least Favorite materials to work with
Guest: N/A
Introduction
What are we working on? * Bob + Daughter’s Jeep * Rebecca + The cat update * Mike + Finished first French cleat wall
Main Topic * Bob + Favorites - Bethlehem olive wood. Check your local TJ Maxx for Olive wood cutting boards - Masur Birch + Least Favorite - Antler * Rebecca + Favorites - Far too many to list here + Least Favorites - Cocobolo and black ash, because of allergies * Mike + Favorites - Huon Pine. Nice buttery color, very easy to turn. Great wood to teach how to turn a pen. Typically not found in the US, but it is available through Ebay and Etsy. + Least Favorite - Inlace Acrylester. Apparently, a chord was struck on this one as all three hosts agreed that Inlace Acrylester is the devil itself. It chips and blows out way too easily. Bob recommended a sharp HSS tool and lowering the speed of the lathe.
