Critique is important for any writer their quest to become better. We are often blind to our own failings in the ways that are not obvious. Even more often we are blind to the things that are awesome in our own work. Having people, especially other writers, who can read our work with an eye toward improving can be the thin red line separating us from being aspiring to taking us to that coveted state of "published".
