Today, we're chatting with Dr. Phil Collins, executive director of Training and Content Development at the Taylor University Center for Scripture Engagement (TUCSE) and general editor for The Abide Bible. As a part of this work, he leads workshops on how to effectively engage with the Bible, having said, “[e]ngaging with Scripture, ever since I was a boy, has been the most powerful and consistent catalyst for spiritual growth that I've experienced. It is as I meet and know God in his Word that I’m inspired to participate fully in his Kingdom.”
He has a bachelor's in Bible Literature and Christian Education from Taylor University, master's in Christian Education from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Purdue University. He also did Old Testament graduate studies at the Institute of Holy Land Studies, now Jerusalem University College. Dr. Collins served six years in youth ministry with Youth for Christ as well as 10 years as a youth pastor. Listed twice in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and once in Who’s Who in America, Dr. Collins has used his vocational passion to inspire many young lives to read the Bible with critical, discerning eyes and hearts. He is married to Terri, and together they have two adult children, Luke and Katelyn.
