On today's episode, I tackle a user's question about whether solopreneurs should incorporate Afterpay into their businesses. As with most business-related queries, there is no one definitive answer that applies to all situations. However, I offer my perspective on the matter, along with several considerations that you should bear in mind while making your own decision.

When contemplating the decision to offer Afterpay as a payment option in your business, it's crucial to assess factors such as the cost to you, the level of risk involved, the demand from your customers, competition, and the overall advantages. Ultimately, your decision should be based on a thorough evaluation of these and other relevant factors, some of which we discuss during today's episode.

First, let me say this isn't the one pot meal freezer cooking technique that was (and still is) the craze on Social Media. What I am talking about today is the technique I use to help prep parts of future meals for my family to help save me time without taking additional time out of my day. This episode for some will be a two-fer because I am not only showing you how to do this but I am also talking you though how to make homemade mac and cheese, in case you didn't know how or never tried because you were intimidated. It is not as hard as you think it is and in my opinion tastes so much better than the boxed stuff.

So today we are going to talk about the following:

  • What the freezer meal prep cooking method is that I use to make meal prep easier in my household without being in the kitchen all day or weekend.
  • I give you my homemade mac and cheese "recipe" (I use the term recipe loosely here)
  • I provide you with the actual freezer prep process post cooking
  • How to use your freezer prepped mac and cheese

Check out my Instagram/Facebook feeds @danalariealmorales for images and more info regarding the freezer cooking series.

In this episode, I conduct a blind industry audit for the beauty industry, specifically for Locticians and Stylists.  We discuss:

  • Conduct a breakdown of the industry for those who may not be familiar
  • Walked through my review process as a Client - Note I really was looking for a loctician/stylist
  • The importance of positioning yourself as an expert
  • How understanding your target market makes a difference.

Note: I realized, after recording this episode, that I incorrectly referred to Traditional Locs as Dread Locs.  During a consult I went on after recording this episode, the stylist educated me about my misuse of the term "Dread Locs".  She explained that the use of the term "Traditional Locs" is preferred over "Dread Locs" in the community.   This exchange further displayed to me the importance of you as a beautician educating and positioning yourself as the expert that you are.  Your clients aren't going to know as much as you do about your craft.

For those of you who listened to our podcast last year, you know that this is Mrs. Steph Hilfer of Viim's second time with us here at Organized Holistically.  Last season she stopped in to teach us what and when to post to social media and this year she is filling the gaps.  Have you ever been confused about how your brand and your marketing and your content all play together?  Trust it can get confusing if you are thinking about them in the wrong way.  Steph really makes it easy to understand with her visual examples.  Now, this conversation was so rich that we split it into two episodes, so make sure you listen to both to get the full lesson.

In today's episode, I have the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Varlack of Brand Ya Flava.  Lauren is a high school teaching, entrepreneurial building momma of 2 rambunctious boys of 10 and 7 years old. Brand Ya Flava came out of a need for women entrepreneurs like Lauren who felt it was better to hide in the shadows of their brands because they feared what others would say or think about their culture. Through some deep conversations and introspection, Lauren was able to realize that her story, personality, and way of teaching, her culture, just who they are is the very thing that makes her stand out—and she came to a full awareness of what branding truly is.

Join me for this conversation and also check out the show notes for links to Lauren's contact information and to learn more about our show sponsor, Organized Academy.

In today's episode, I am answering a question from listener Tiffany who has recently been selected to lead several projects in her office and she has no formal project management experience.  She needs to learn quickly as the project kicks off very soon and wanted to know if I had any tips or templates that I could share with her to help her during this transition.

This is a common issue because many times in your role as a professional and/or side-hustler you are often asked to fill the role of a project manager without actually having any formal training.  It's an add-on to your normal responsibilities.

I definitely encourage you to check out the show notes for more details on this topic.

We are all looking for ways to stretch a dollar these days and freezer cooking is a great way to maximize your food and your money.

As an Army brat, I learned how to freezer cook from a very young age.  Granted we didn't call it freezer cooking back in the day, but that's what we were doing.  Our house was an hour or so from the local army base, so we would only grocery shop once a month.  We froze everything!

Fast forward to my life as an adult and you will see that freezer cooking is still a major part of my family's life.  In this episode, I share the tips and tricks as well as my lessons learned as it relates to our freezer cooking process.

It doesn't have to be overly complicated, just start small.  I encourage you to visit the episode on the website to get the list of suggested freezer cooking resources and a few suggested links that will get your freezer cooking started the right way.

We spend so much time trying to control things that we cannot control instead of focusing on the things that we can.  Recently, we have all been impacted by the coronavirus in some form or fashion. The truth is, we can't really control or predict what is going to happen with it, so I want to help you change your focus.  I want to focus your attention on something that you can control so you can take advantage of the opportunity you have now, which is the opportunity of time.

Unfortunately, natural disasters and man-made disasters are becoming commonplace.  Although that is the case, I am finding that so many people are left unprepared.  They are in the dark as far as what needs to be done in the event of an accident, disaster or death.  It is time to take our heads out of the sand and really plan ahead to take the burden off of you and your family in the event of a tragic situation that needs your/their attention.

Note:  This episode was recorded one week prior to the devastating tornados that rocked the Middle Tennessee area.  I felt it was prudent to go ahead and release it on schedule.  My prayers go out to our community and all those affected, directly or indirectly.  #NashvilleStrong #TennesseeStrong
