St. Scholastica, like her brother St. Benedict, dedicated herself to God from early youth. Together they established religious communities within a few miles from each other. Information on the virgin Scholastica is limited. She and Benedict were brought up together until he left central Italy for Rome to continue his studies. Both saints would have a strong influence on the early Church.
