As most countries around the world lift lockdown measures, the number of cases has surged past 9 million.
The biggest increase was from North and South America with over 116,000 new infections in the last 24 hours.
The death toll in Brazil, the world’s second hardest-hit country, rose to over 50,000.

Libya's parliament is calling on the government to be ready to respond to any aggression from Egypt.
On Saturday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi said attacks against warlord Khalifa Haftar's militias could trigger direct military intervention by his country.
*) Noose found in stall of Bubba Wallace at Alabama NASCAR race
A noose was found in the garage stall of Black driver Bubba Wallace at a NASCAR race in Alabama.
This comes less than two weeks after he successfully pushed the stock car racing series to ban the Confederate flag at its tracks and facilities.
NASCAR launched an immediate investigation and says it will do everything possible to find out who was responsible and eliminate them from the sport.
*) Reading stabbing suspect was on MI5's radar
Reports say a Libyan man arrested in connection with the deadly stabbing attacks in Reading was on M15’s radar.
Three people were killed and another three injured in Saturday's attack, which was classified as an act of terrorism.
Khairi Saadallah was investigated by British security services over concerns that he was planning to travel abroad to join a militant group.
