Stephen's sermon continues with a long section on Moses, which both disproves the foolish charge that he is blaspheming Moses, and shows that Stephen has a true and accurate grasp on Moses as an example of faith and a type of Christ.In this section Stephen first speaks of all a time of promise, as God proves his faithfulness, prospering his people in Egypt. Then he identifies a deliverer from God, considering the three periods of forty years into which Moses' life can be divided. Then he zeroes in on Moses as a man to consider—a rejected redeemer, a typical prophet, and an oracular preacher.In all this, Stephen is pointing us toward Christ. To know Moses would be to trust Jesus; to trust Jesus is to know God for our salvation.
