Matthew 7:24-27 January 10, 2021

If someone or something is thriving, that means it is doing well. To thrive is to grow vigorously. Plants can thrive, businesses can thrive, people can thrive; and when they are thriving, great things are happening.

Now thrive may be the last word you are thinking about as we begin 2021. Many people are just thinking about surviving, trying to get by, living one day at time. But what if God called us to more? What if He wants you to thrive spiritually, thrive in the chaos, thrive at work and in school, thrive by giving up control?

What if we made it a goal in 2021 to thrive? I believe great things will happen in our lives, in our city, and in our faith community when we thrive.

This week we talk about how we can thrive in chaos.

Next Steps: • Meditate on Matthew 7:25: Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. • Find a spot in nature to sit with God; think about how you can thrive in the chaos. • Take some to think about whether you have any sandy areas in your foundation.
